I'm having a dilemma. I'm currently living in an apt and have been waiting for about a year to get the money I need to start looking for a house. My apt wants me to renew my lease for at least 6 months or go month to month. My bf gave me the option of moving in with him so I think that is what I'm going to do.

He said ok to the 2 kitties but he is really unsure of my 2 guinea pigs and 2 rats. I don't want to give them up and feel really bad. The rats I saved from being snake food and I adopted one guinea pig via petco and another was given to me. If I was to get my own house I would take them with me, but it doesn't look like it's gonna be anytime soon.

I am not sure what I should do with my guineas and rats. Does anyone have any ideas?

What is his problem with them? Aside from some play time they're in cages.
If he's worried about smell, simply prove to him otherwise that this is not an issue by keeping the cages as clean as possible.

A rather depressing but realistic view for the rats is that you won't have them for that long anyways... It's one of the reasons I won't keep rodents anymore. I don't want to get attached to something that's gone after so few years.

On the upside show him how smart they are.

In a way, unless you are really planning on living with your BF beyond the time it takes you to find a house, I really wouldn't go that route; no offense.

What happens if you start arguing, and he kicks you out? Then you're stuck out of luck, and searching for a new place, possibly having to get rid of ALL your pets.

You could easily go month to month on your apt lease; that is what my husband and I are doing, simply because we never know when we might have to move, depending on what jobs we get in the future. So, month to month gives us much more flexibility.

Perhaps you could find someone to rent with you, rather than moving out of your current apartment; maybe a close friend needs somewhere to stay, and then you could split rent, and still be able to save some $ should you still want to look for a home.
