Alabama Massacre

I was sort of surprised not to see a thread on this happening. Apparently it happened yesterday and 10 people are dead including I believe 5 family members of the gunman. I read about it on CBC online but didn't know how to link the article. This as well as the shooting in Germany were on the news this morning.

How very sad. I still say people should be required to undergo psychological testing before being allowed firearms.

May they all rest in peace

I was more surprised not to see a thread about it here considering all the Americans we have on this site.

I can't help but think that if it were a negative article about Obama it would have been posted on here in less than an hour.

16 Dead in School Shooting in Germany

This one was way too close to home for me; I've been in a state of shock all day. Several of my current students attended that school, and were in a near panic today. I'm not even sure that we'll be able to have regular classes tomorrow.

Both massacres are just incomprehensible.

Well, yeah, but that's par for the course.

I didn't even know this happened, but I was stuck in class all afternoon and evening and didn't listen to the news at all.

The guy's elevator clearly didn't go all of the way to the top. Humans perplex me at times. It seems like it's becoming more common to hear about a person shooting up his former place of employment because he/she was fired or laid off. A person killing their significant other and sometimes the children because a break up occurred or there was mention of a possible divorce. I don't get it. To me, none of that stuff is worth going off over.

Sad to say, but this kind of thing is happening so much lately that I guess it just doesn't make such an impact anymore

Every other day almost you read a story about some guy killing his wife and kids and self because they lost their jobs, etc. Things are going to hell in this country very, very fast. Seems everyone has lost their minds.

I'm with Natalie, I try to stay away from the news It's too depressing, I have enough things to be sad about without dwelling on this kind of stuff which I DO!! The other day there was a man shot and killed at my favorite bookstore here in Lexington, one that I go to all the time, it's safer to just not leave the house at this point May these people RIP and their family find some comfort somewhere
