I took Matilda and her babies, Mango, Joey and Star to be spayed/neutered. Star is the only boy in the group and in my previous experience with boy kitties I know that they recover more quickly than the girls. They also had their rabies shots.

The girls were rearing and ready to get out of their traps and they were all responding well. I let them out to eat and to stretch their legs. The girls all ate and went back to lay down.

Star was still wobbly and it seems that he can't see. He's an eating machine and he didn't want to touch his food at first, but when he went to try to eat he was stepping in his food dish. He was tripping over anything that he was able to trip over. He did drink a little water, but he fell down while doing so. They were out of surgery at 2pm today and I tried to feed them at 7:30 this evening (regular feeding time). I put him in a more comfortable carrier and draped a towel over him. He's in my spare room.

I'm worried that he has something wrong with him and I'm afraid his eyesight has been affected. I've been through so much with this little guy and his eyes, he's just got to be healthy now.

How do I know that there are no lasting side effects from the sedative? Should I be concerned or am I just over-reacting?

I am not an expert by any means but having just had all four boy kitties neutered, each one responded differently, one went right back to playing another layed frozen on my bed forever 3 days, and a third one still hasn't fully forgiven me. I would call the place to make sure nothing out of the ordinary happened during the proceedure, if he is not better by tomorrow this time something may indeed be wrong, good luck!

Call the VET ASAP! One of the other members on here - her female cat went blind from the anesthesia!
