My two boys, Oscar and Obie, need to lose a little bit of weight. The vet told us how much food they should get per day and we've divided that amount into 3 or 4 feedings. The problem is that they always seem to be hungry.
When Oscar is hungry, he'll watch us and if we stand up he'll bolt to the kitchen thinking he's getting more food. If we happen to go to the kitchen for something else, he'll sit by the feeding area and stare at us until it's really time. When we leave the kitchen without putting down more food, he'll sit as close to it as he can while staring at us... It's like he's trying to use some sort of telepathy or jedi mind trick. "feed me... feed me... feeeeed meeeee!!!!"
Obie is a little more assertive. He'll come up to us and keep head butting and meowing. If we go into the kitchen he'll put his front paws on our thighs and meow a little louder. When we leave the kitchen he'll follow us around and continue with the head butting and meowing.
If we stay strong and stick to the feeding schedule, will they eventually give up and get used to it? I must say, I find it very hard to ignore them when they're begging for food. I broke down a couple of times and gave them a small snack.... It didn't help. The begging continued shortly afterwards
They just need to lose a few more pounds.
