I am owed by 6 indoor cats. 5 are purebred "Ragdolls"
2 of my boys had very matted areas in the chest area only. My vet shaved my 3 cats chest including their poopy butts for cheap
My male Ragdoll cats cannot groom their own chest between their arm pits and above

Really? I just watched Nora do this tonight. She has a double jointed neck or something b/c it looked painful and I don't know how she physically did it, but she managed. lol Maybe I just have a freak cat. LMAO Her chest and neck are always pure white, though. Gus was a long hair and couldn't reach a strip down the middle of his back, otherwise he kept everything spic and span.

My Ragdolls can get in that area. Although, we do brush there more often, and I keep in between their front legs clipped as well. I shave by their butts too.. keeps things much tidier! Luckily, my two are used to the clippers so no vet is needed.

Stan is not a ragdoll (but he acts like one and has rag-doll like bunny soft fur)--he works like a mad man to try and clean that area. We brush him every day and trim his butt every couple of weeks.

So far we have been able to avoid shaving his chest, but he does get food stuck on there
