Could actually use some "no-fire vibes here" guys! Somehow there's a fire been started between my house and the next road a few miles over, has burned all the woods and such in the area. Our trailer sits on a cleared area about two acres wide in the middle of this, there's a 1,500 gallon fire truck tanker sitting in our front yard, they're about to dig a fire break around our yard and leave the truck there, just in case the fire decides to come back up from the bottom side. They think it's pretty much under control, if winds and such don't change......keep your fingers and paws crossed, guys!

thanks! And for the next 40 minutes or so, I'm stuck here at work....can't even go home to see whats up! The fire dept. didn't think we needed to evacuate our kits at the moment though, that's a good sign....... as long as they haven't changed their minds by the time I get to go home......

As of almost 10 pm, the local firefighters and Forestry guys are still out and about, making firebreaks on the other side of us now....here's hoping they get this thing out and done with pretty soon!

Over the river and through the woods...
Oh hon, many coming your way! I live on a cleared area of about 3 acres with woods on 3 sides, and on top of a mountain. The idea of a wild fire scares the crap out of me! We've had a few (usually stupid people burning garbage in high winds) but none have gotten close to our house thank the lord.

If the fire dept is parted outside your house, you should be fine. It sounds like they know what they're doing. But, please keep us posted!

Just saw this. I hope things are under control and you and your kitties are safe. Sending a little your way to slow things down.

How could you be expected to STAY AT WORK while your house is in danger of burning down?
I sure hope you and the kitties are okay today...

How's it looking today? We've had a bunch of fires here lately because it's so dry and windy - there was a bad one yesterday in fact.
A couple days ago there was an apartment fire in OKC, while one of the firemen was packing up equipment he had a seizure and later died.
I hope all the firefighters out there can stay safe, too.

Edit: I just heard the firetrucks head out with their sirens blaring less than 20 minutes ago.

That sounds like us, except we're at the bottom of the mountain, lol! We don't have too many fires, thank God!

Alls well here, just loads of scorched timberland and such. They put it out less than a quarter of a mile up the hill on one side of us, the other side was well protected by a swampy area. Going to head home in a bit for some much needed rest.....going to bed at 10:00 and getting up at 3 am makes for a long work day!

Whew, I'm sure glad everything is ok! That was a close call! Do you have a lot of smoke still filtering around? I'll bet you're wore out from worry!!
