Today is much like the others.. I have noticed her in her litter box OFTEN...she has been pooping like crazy! Her anus looks a little swollen and red... altho the whole rear end looks swollen. We are on day 65 we do believe... could this be the onset of labor? Last night I was petting her belly like she lovesss for me to do. I checked her nipples and a little something came out of them. Gosh, I'm getting so excited!

Oh, I just brought Coral's poop into the vet because she actually had blood in her stools and her butt was looking very red from pooping I guess. She didn't have any parasites, but the vet mentioned fiber in her diet. Is your cat usually an outdoor cat? My vet was saying, because we have been keeping Coral in, that she's not getting enough fiber. Her stools aren't hard, but I think it's that she's straining. My vet said to feed her pumpkin pie mix, the sweetened one. Maybe it's worth a try with your little one. It's one of those things that couldn't hurt at least. 1 tsp twice a day. Let me know if you try it and how it works. We're going to start with Coral today.

Ali is an indoor cat... that could very well be it. She don't have diarrhea.. but it definately isn't formed. Pumpkin pie filling, eh? I will have to pick some up today and give it a try. We are both just waiting and waiting on these lil kits. HOpefully today is the day for both of us.

No kidding. I wonder who's will be first. Yours sound like she's almost there! Isn't it so exciting! Yeah, the pumpkin pie thing will be interesting. I was happy because I was looking on-line to see what kind of natural remedies they have for worms, and I couldn't find anything. So, I was so happy to know I didn't have to give her any medication since she didn't have worms. Coral's poop is like that too. Very loose and usually a big mound. She goes 2-3 times per day and looks very uncomfortable when she goes.

It looks like we're in the same boat!

Ali is going wayyyy more than 3 times a day... and each time, it's loose and quite a bit. I'm also wondering if she has a kitten that is putting pressure on the rectum, as today while petting her.. she pooped a little on the floor. With no exertion from her, it just came out! She looks so uncomfortable, and she's been spending a great deal of time cleaning herself today... NOT her butt or anything down there, as she can't reach it! Poor thing.

If you do a search you can find several threads that recommend pumpkin for diarrhea or constipation. However, the pumpkin should actually be just the plain kind, NOT the pumpkin pie mix. I don't know why the vet said to get the sweetened kind. As far as I know anything that is sweetened would also have other spices in it, which are not good for cats.

Coral had her kittens, actually, she's having them right now. I was going to tell you that yesterday I noticed she was really lazy. She still played a bit, but she layed around a lot. I have the feeling that last night would be the night because of her being so lazy yesterday evening. She did stop eating too!

Any kitten news on your front?

She had 5 of them. She was just really lazy yesterday, but was still eating a bit. Then last night I got up at 2:30am and she usually follows me into the bathroom and eats. Last night she didn't. I laid back in bed and she went into the closet and started scratching at the carpet. 2 hours later I got woken up by little kitten meows and opened the closet to find the first kitten hanging out of her! It took 4 hours between the 4th and 5th kitten, so don't freak out, like I did, if that happens to yours
. Try to keep it quiet too while she's birthing. My son came in a disturbed the whole process, thus the 4 hours between kittens. It's an amazing experience. They really do it all on their own. I didn't have to do a thing except pet her head inbetween contractions and watch.

Best of luck to you. I have a feeling it will be tonight or tomorrow night for you. We'll see. Watch for extreme laziness.

It's 6:15 am and we've been awake all night with Ali birthing. So far she's had 3. We do know there is another in there... and we are just waiting it out. The last one was born at 4:09 am... so I know there's still time. Ali is doing great, and she's soooo tired, and sleeping like a log, while the 3 nurse. First one born was black. 2nd is an orange actually looks like an orange and white tabby maybe? 3rd is a brown tabby like mommy. So I guess I'll report back with pics when the birthing is final.

Yay Ali! Yeah, give her a little time. Make sure you let the kittens nurse because it can stimulate contractions. Congratulations and keep us informed on that last one.
