At least, that is what Igor Panarin thinks...

Russian Scholar says US will collapse next year
post #2 of 24
Man, what a nut case this guy is! The US will collapse, but Russia won't... Right! Dream on crazy dude, dream on!

I heard that yesterday Skippy, did you see the map of the new countries.
Like six countries instead of one? I am really bummed out because Nevada is going to go with California. I think it will be time to move back to Iowa.

If by the outside chance something like this were to happen, I nominate that we come up with our own names for the new countries. Kentucky in "Atlantic America?" How lame is that?

Ooh, I love the Luna siggy!

It's significant that a Russian professor is saying this, and with some glee. Like most Russians, he doesn't know much about the U.S.

That said, I can easily see Texas, for example, saying, "You know, this experiment just isn't working. We're outta here!"

The current administration is trying to keep us from drilling for oil and gas and burning coal. We could be way more than just energy independent in this state, and it's getting annoying how little some states like Florida and California want to share in the effort.

me, too!
btw - this is not a new theory to me; altho, i must admit, i had only read about it before in a sci-fi novel [Friday, by Robert Heinlein].

In that case I'll declare myself emperor of Ohio. Look for me to expand our borders. I can see it now, new provinces in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, then beyond.

That's great!! Maybe someone should tell that guy that there already was a collapse of Russia, er, the Soviet Union.

I see the Texas-America and the North Central Whatever America becoming allies and taking over the liberal coasts. We'll split the territory north and south. Come on...we already know they don't have guns and we certainly do. A Rodney King clone would be in charge of the California peace negotiations..."Can't we all just get along?" "Um, NO!"

I think I need some more meds...I'm getting a little loopy here but am seriously giggling about this whole prospect!
That's pretty crazy...I don't believe it, but my local radio station hosts talk about a civil war that is about to happen between the north and the south all the time...The whole world is dependent on the US though, if something like this was about to happen the they're all going down as well...

Awwww, none of it matters. The world is going to end in 2012 anyway!

Any and every prediction is right at least once sometime between the beginning and the end of eternity. This guy might be right, but his timing leaves much to be desired.

Oh yeah! I keep forgetting about that. December 20th, isn't it?

The prediction from Panarin, a former spokesman for Russia's Federal Space Agency and reportedly an ex-KGB analyst, meshes with the negative view of the U.S. that has been flowing from the Kremlin in recent years, in particular from Vladimir Putin.
That says it all! Wishful thinking, I guess.

Where have you been? I haven't seen you in ages.

Thank you Mike and Laureen, Tricia made it, isn't it great? I love it.

To stay on topic, I will be out protesting if they try to throw us in with California.

Oh, I've been around. Staying away from any potentially volatile topics.

Congrats on your new furfamily member. I added a new one back in November.

Maybe you should celebrate the day before in 2012, just to be safe.

Could "ex-KGB analyst" mean "current FSB [Federal Security Service] analyst"? The Russian ex-pats I work with claim there's no difference between the FSB and KGB, and mention the latter every time Putin's name comes up.

The old line was that the U.S. was going to eventually break up because of racial strife; now that we have a minority president, another "line of reasoning" has to serve, I guess.

I wonder if this guy blogs?

I thought so. I wonder if he's mentioned how bad things are in Russia?

I read yesterday (in a German newspaper) that car production is down by 80%, and the Duma just approved a government guarantee of RUB 35 billion ($1.26 million).
Russian auto firms still reeling, plants may shut

Quote:
Russia's two largest automotive firms -- AvtoVAZ (AVAZ.MM) and Kamaz (KMAZ.MM) -- are again halting their assembly lines amid the financial turmoil, while rival GAZ Group (GAZA.RTS) may have to close or merge some plants for good, the firms said. A deep decline in vehicle sales has squeezed these companies' cash flows in recent months, forcing some to cut output and lay off workers, and leaving others so indebted to parts makers that the supply chain has been broken.

Those wacky ex-KGB guys, they never fail to amuse me.

All exotic animal owners could come to Ohio then. In fact, that would be a requirement. You MUST have an exotic animal to live here, if not, you would have to leave. Finally, justice would be served
