I have a two year old female cat, she doesn't like alot of attention and keeps to herself. She only wants to be loved on when she wants it. We had an episode where we were outside and the people a few doors down had a male kitten running around and came up to me and my husband while we were sitting outside and Callie saw the male cat and starting hissing, so we came in to try to calm her down and she started showing teeth and hissing and lunging at us like she was going to bite and scratch us, but she never actually followed through. It took her about 10 minutes to calm down and then she was fine. We are wanting to get a kitten but afraid of how she might react with a kitten. Is it possible to bring a kitten into this situation and if so how long would it take for them to get along?

I've recently just got a 8 week old kitten and I too was worried about the intergration between her and my resident cat Pip who is 4 this year! He's really timid and shy and only wants love when he demands it and because he's an indoor cat, he doesn't know what another cat looks like, let alone what a little kitten is like! Luckily though, they are getting along fine with no squabbles.

You should introduce them to each other slowly (we couldn't because little kitten is clever and managed to escape out of the room she was in in the night and just made herself at home immediatly much to the horror of the Boss Pippin). Each situation is different from the next... I am sure a more experienced member will be along shortly to let you know what to do!
