Hi everyone

My kitten Aphrodite's head looked bigger than normal so I started feeling around and noticed that on the back of her head in the center (behind her ears but in the middle) there is a huge swelling. If you've ever felt a bra with padded air in it that's exactly what it feels like when I push on it. She was in the fireplace a few days ago, is it possible that she could have hit her head and it's swelling?? Do kittens swell when they hit part of their body hard? She is eating, drinking and sitting on my lap but seems possibly a little more tired than normal but I can't really tell. It doesn't hurt her when I push on it. What could this be?!?!?! I'm a freaker-outter so I just need to know if anyone has had a swollen cat before. Also, I realize I need to call my vet just seeing if there is someone who has been through this before. Thanks very much

Ok so Dite was the lil kit with a broken neck and she's been healed. She broke her neck in November and was in a splint into January. I'm wondering if maybe it's scar tissue. I know the body does weird things when it heals, especially if she's growing and whatnot. I never really noticed it before but it's possible I just missed it. She has such long hair and some of it had to be cut down during her healing process. I just opened a can of salmon and she is mowing down so I'm hoping it's going to be all right. If any of her habits change I'm gonna call my vet. Still, though, if anyone has had a swollen kitty let me know!

You are right to call your vet. With her history, it is much better to be on the safe side. Please let your vet know about the swelling.

Even if someone had a kitten/cat with swelling before, there is no comparison to what is going on with your baby. It could be fluid, something to do with her prior injury or any number of things. The location of the swelling and her injury are very important and the vet needs to know as soon as possible.

Hoping it is something that will resolve without any problems.
