Dropped the furkid off at my friend's apartment at 6pm. I'm leaving for the States for a 2 week vacation tomorrow morning. it's 9pm and my apartment feels very strangely still and lonely...

I've never had to leave a pet with someone else before, much less a 4m/o kitten. My friend is fine, but Aya is terrbly shy and fearful and her boyfriend likes cats but doesn't know how to handle them.

Can't help but be a little worried.

Aww i'd be worried too..I'm leaving Jake with my boyfriend for 10 days in may. I am even worried right now, and thinking whether I should take him to a pet hotel. The main thing that worries me is that the people who live with him may not be used to cats, might leave a front door open for a long time and Jake might run out....
I hope it all goes well with Aya and time goes fast so you can be together again soon!

I miss them whenever I go away, as does the BF, and so far we've only ever had to leave them with each other.

A friend left her cat with me for three months over the summer, and was quite distraught by the whole thing.

What you're feeling is very normal. Enjoy your trip. You'll be back together very soon.

Oh it is so hard. I'm going away for about a week from the 18th on & I'm already worried & nervous. I've never left these guys for that long before. I have a good pet sitter, but still I worry. I normally take Jordan with me when I go to my sisters, but this trip is too far to take him with. He hasn't been left alone for more than 1 night at a time in about 2 years. I can't imagine being out of the country for 2 weeks, hopefully you'll enjoy your trip so much you won't have too much time to miss your furbaby.

Well, got an email after I arrived in the US stating that Aya has come out of her shell after a night spent growling my friend to sleep from under her bed. Everything is peachy except for some litterbox woes (the ferret has been using it) and she protested by pooing on the kitchen floor.
