ok i'm going to try and keep this short but that never happens...lol Well i'm trying my hand/nerves at this thing called fostering. The guy who cleans our floors at work brought in a stray that had been sitting in the shelter for 3 weeks and was going to be PTS. He did not want it to happen since this kittie is an absolute sweetheart. Well i could not bear to see her sitting in a cage at my job getting fattened up and then used as a blood donor...its not a good life. (Unfortunately this happens at my job with strays that end up there). So this tiny lil female Tortie has been sitting in my bathroom for the last 3 days. She has proved shes litter box trained, loves sitting in my sink, prefers wet over dry, and loves to growl and grumble at weird noises. I figured tonight I would try and let her out of my bathroom and explore and meet/greet my 4 wonder kitties. It is going just ok...she growls at everybody and if they get to close she hisses which makes my guys hiss. Well POOR WORM, he is the lover of my group and nobody can deter him no matter how mad they get he just pushes right along. Magic (as i have been calling her) will not let Worm near so he just sits there staring at her with the expression of "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU LADY??" He so wants to go up to her and start cleaning her like he does to everybody else but whenever he gets close she hisses and he looks at me like "MOM why wont she let me?" He has been trying so hard to get close to her but she wants nothing to do with him right now and i feel sooo bad for him, none of my other guys ever gave him this much trouble. He can't figure it out. Hopefully she will become more accepting of my guys otherwise its going to be a LOOOOOONNNGGG road! Worm's look was priceless!

It sounds like your wonder kitties know exactly what is going on. New kitty needs her space and, aside from the occasional approaches, they are giving it to her. The fact that their hasn't been a fight says to me that they are communicating just right! Three days is not a long introduction either. Some just require more time to get used to their new environment.

Have you tried rubbing your boys in a couple of towels/blankets and then giving them to the new girl so that she can get used to their scent? I went as far to put the towels under and around the food bowls to associate their scent with "YUM!"
I also started feeding both the residents & newbie on the opposite sides of the door.

The foster kitty is very lucky to be a part of such a patient furfamily! Yay for wonder kitties!

i've tried a lot of stuff and just have come to the deal with the fact that she needs to be an only cat. I know it has been a short time but with them all the growling usually subsides after at least a day out with the group. She was a stray and i think she is use to the single life. I'm trying to find her a nice older couple who would enjoy the company of a gorgeous love bug.
