Don't worry though, I never have people over...and if I ever invite you over, perhaps you should politely decline, or BYOD

I said "some of you" so I didn't say you specifically.

And as for the invite - I'd love to meet you of course, but I would politely decline your offer of refreshment and suggest instead that we go out - my treat.

Sounds like a plan

Guilty.... and I have a hubby and 2 kids.

That said, when I do buy milk for me, it is skim milk and noone else in my house drinks it other than me.

If there's only a little bit of juice left, I will drink it straight from the can/pitchers if I'm finishing it off.

I have a pitcher of non-bacterial laced 2% milk for the rest of the family or guests.

The only time I do (even though I live with a roomie) us when there is barely enough for a glass in the bottom. I hate wasting a glass to finish off a bottle... My roomie does it to. We figure if we're the last ones to drink it who cares!

I don't live alone but I do drink straight from the jug if I'm healthy. DH has been sick this past week and my body is trying it's best to fight off what he has so in order to prevent the constant passing back and forth I am using a glass for now and so is he.

No I don't do that. I actually find the idea rather gross.
Ya'll are making me think twice about drinking anything at someone's else house.

Just wondering... for those who drink from the milk jug/carton, have you ever been unlucky enough to get a mouthful of bad or just about to go bad milk?

Milk is one of the things I'm terrible at telling by smell alone if it's bad yet. Usually because there's some around the rim/top of the carton that stinks. So when I do have milk I make DH double check for me or let the cats have a little (I drink lactose free milk). I'd never drink straight from the container, even if I was the one finishing something off, simply because I have bad luck!

Not usually because we drink so much and what we buy (organic fat-free) doesn't usually expire for a long time. But there was one morning I bought a chocolate chug that was past it's date. It wasn't chunky but it tasted terrible and I didn't notice it was bad until it was too late.

Absolutely.

Step 1. Unscrew top of juice/milk.

Step 2. Give ring to Sasha.

Step 3. Drink away!

I once drank an entire small carton of milk that was rotten before I noticed...I had swallowed it
I ran to the front counter for some coke or something else to wash it doen. I was working at McDonalds at the time and I bought the milk from there.
I will never forget that taste.

Neither will I, that's something that sticks with you for life... Talk about learning a lesson the hard way!

In my case it was a carton of milk in grade school. I was being hurried so I didn't have time to check the dates before grabbing it, something most of us tried to pay attention to because they often had milk that was out of date by a week or more. I went and sat down, and had a surprise with that first big drink.

Unfortunately yes. It was a carton of chocolate soy milk. Unfortunately when soy milk goes bad it doesn't have a sour smell, or at least this carton didn't. I took a mouthful and imagine my total disgust when it felt all cottage cheesy in my mouth *ugh!* That was the last time I had chocolate soy milk actually!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
We don't! But it's not a fair question of us... we're back in the RV, and there isn't room for anything but individual-size bottles of anything.
We even buy the little boxes of Parmalat long shelf-life milk, so that's individual-size too!
