Isn't this exactly the opposite of what the Obama bashers were insisting would happen with this conference?

The Obama administration has threatened to boycott a major U.N. conference on racism scheduled for April unless major changes are made to the draft conference outcome document, which they claim unfairly singles out Israel and would restrict freedom of speech.

Reparations for slavery??? I wonder if they realize how many countries have a history of slavery?

I want so badly to take the UN seriously but they make it so *hard*.

The impression I get is that the Obama administration is turning out to be unlike what either the supporters or the bashers hoped or forecast it would be. And I think that's a good thing, so far.

As far as I am concerned the jury is still out on whether Barack continues this countries support of Israel.

Looks like some Jewish leaders don't agree with your assessment.

Barack will give the Palistinian's 900 million dollars to rebuild Gaza for the destruction caused by Hamas who the Palistinian's voted into power. I wonder if they are the same Palistinian's that were shown on newscasts dancing in the streets when they heard the news about 9-11?

I'll see your questionable news source, and raise you one real Jewish newspaper, actually in Israel, that is very, very happy with these events

A large part of the world at one time or another. The ancient city-states of Mesopotamia would be a good place to start.

So Obama's administration sending aid to Gaza following the very same channels and in the very same fashion that the Bush administration has been sending aid for years, is now suddenly a bad thing simply because it's the Obama administration. Ok, I got it!

I don't agree with it, except for humanitarian aid, and I don't care who is President.

Where are you getting the idea that the aid will go to Hamas?
US to donate '$900m in Gaza aid'

The US considers Hamas a terrorist organisation and refuses to deal with the group but it recognises the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
The aid would go to nongovernmental and UN organisations, with some going to the Palestinian Authority, the official said.
U.S. to pledge $900 million for Gaza rebuild

Quote:
The United States plans to pledge more than $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after Israel's invasion and strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, a U.S. official said on Monday. The money will be channeled through U.N. and other bodies and will not be distributed via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to make the announcement next week at a Gaza donors conference in Egypt.

Seeing as how Hamas is in charge of Gaza because they were elected by the people, what other idea could I have? Of course the aid is going to Hamas, they rule Gaza.
