Hey Michelle your animated giff looks like a girl slapping a cap in the face. I know it's not but ...oh nm.

I know...I was afraid people might think that. I like think she's tossing treats for the kitties instead!

The one thing that bothers me about the Abyssinian Rescue is that after I emailed and filled out an application, I never heard back from them after the email telling me that they were contacting the owners for an update on the cats. I found out that the boys were adopted because they updated their webpage. They (Aby Rescue) never notified me, if I hadn't checked the webpage I would still be sitting here thinking they were getting in touch with the owners about me taking the boys home here.

Am I wrong to be upset/concerned that they didn't even email me to tell me that they'd found out the boys were adopted, since they knew I was interested in adopting them and had applied to do so?

I found a website called "Retired Friends" that has listings of retired breeding/show cats for adoption. Have been in touch with a woman in Quebec about one of her cats, who is half-Aby half-Somali, and is just adorable. Waiting to hear back from her what the adoption fee would be.

This is him as a baby. He is one year old now.

Hi Sue!
Ummmm maybe they had found them a home and didn't wanna bother you, *shrugs* .. Don't be upset hun , you'll find that purrfect pussycat!
That kitty is gorgeous, hopefully you can adopt him .. Abys/Somailis ARE exactly the same like Persians and Exotics ( for me ) all my cats are 1/2 per 1/2 exot but we don't say that .. Sorry , I know that Aby's are SH and Somails are LH but they are the same breed
Good Luck! on him

Once again, I have not received any reply after sending my info. I am guessing that since I was honest about having 13 cats (despite having the room and resources for giving them quite a good life, and noting such in my application) turned people off. They probably think I am a hoarder or something like that.

So it looks like if I want an Aby, my choices are limited to:
1) Adopt one from a shelter, if I can find one, that is.
2) Lie about the number of cats I have.
3) Buy one from someone who doesn't ask too many questions.
4) Just not get one.

For what it's worth, I just emailed the folks from the 2 most recent inquiries I've made, both from Retired Friends. http://www.breedlist.com/retired/aby-ret.html I asked about Sprite from NJ and Rooya from Quebec (the breeder is willing to ship him). I don't want to ask for Board Magic because there are people on here who certainly have more emergency needs than this! I want people to be able to focus their Cat Site Vibes on cases like DragonLady's Frankie!

Oh Sue!
For all that it's worth, I'm sending you lots of good vibes you way! Hopefully you can help make another helpless kitty get a good home!

Thanks, Shell!

Well I just got an email back that Sprite is no longer available, as she's been adopted. Still waiting to hear on Rooya.

Hmm, three days since my email to the breeder and still no reply. I am guessing she doesn't know how to say "I don't want him to go to someone who already has 13 cats." Still no "real" Abys on Petfinder anywhere near me. Ah well, if it is meant to be, one will find me.

Just a suggestion Sue, but perhaps sending them an e-mail with pictures of your home would encourage them more. If they realized that you have enough resources to support both emotionally and financially I am sure they would be more receptive. *shrugs* It's jus a thought.
