I love Abys, they are so beautiful! Not to mention pretty darn smart

I have always wanted one. If anyone hears of one needing a home/adoption/rescue, any age, any gender, let me know. I would prefer a ruddy or red, but would love any of these gorgeous kitties!

LOL Val, I know, I know...still only 13. BF has been hinting for the past few days that we could easily handle a couple more. I looked at him in shock and asked if he were kidding. He said, "If we can save 2 more lives, wouldn't you?" We are working on fixing the attic to be a kitty play haven for them, going to put cat trees up there and stuff

Sue, you sound like you've got one heck of a man! How sweet is that?!
I'm in awe of all you guys who rescue some many cats. I bet it is so fulfilling to save those innocent lives. I wish I could do more, but my 3 keep me pretty busy & broke. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to rescue several more. Until then, I'm so proud of you guys!

I had all the kittens out playing (except anti social granet who i got to pet for the first time today! ) and dh was like mmmm this is ALOT of cats and they are going to get BIG I kept telling him it will be okay!! We don't have a finished basement or finshed attic But we are going to redo the front room that the kittens are in and put food and a few litter boxes out there and that should help. We have six rooms (seven counting that front room) and two bath room and seven cats I hope i can keep up with the litter and hair.

You should do fine with that, Val. Our main level is 5 rooms. We only have one bathroom (thank goodness we have no kids! ).

I heard back this AM from the contact person. They are trying to get in touch with the owners in Manhattan.

Part of me is terrified that they're going to say something like, "NO! You've got 13 cats already! What are you, insane?" Maybe I'm just being paranoid... We do have the room, if you take the attic and basement into consideration it is more than 2700 sq feet of space for the cats to live in.

It is a lot of kitties. But it is also lives saved. And we have a pretty darn peaceable kingdom here. I couldn't do it alone, my BF is so great with them and loves them every bit as much as I do and does his share of the work and then some.

What I am worried about also is the home visit The house is clean (as in, not dirty) but it is not neat. It will weird me out having people here to "inspect" my home.

Well, they will see:
1. Cats are more of a priority than dusting.
2. I am not the most organized person in the world, but I do try.
3. The cats here are happy, healthy, playful, well socialized and very much loved.
4. We have discovered those huge rubbermaid totes are the best thing since sliced bread Between storage in the attic and in the house, we must have a dozen of those things! My BF is obsessed with them LOL!

i read that Abyssinian kitties are very loyal. Also, the Aby kitties i came across are pretty vocal. i am sure you will love having an Aby baby as well!

Recently, i adopted an Aby kitty. Her name is Isys. She is extremely affectionate and likes to purr a lot. She also enjoys lots of hugs and kisses.

She really likes Daisy's and Venus' cavebed. Oh, she flips over catnip pouches.

I have heard that Abys are like intelligent toddlers; curious, friendly and mischievous. And full of energy! They are such handsome cats, I love the gorgeous eyes and those huge ears!

Sam and Bogart were adopted by a friend of the original owner's, so they will not be coming home to live with me. I hope they have a wonderful new furrever home.

What a bummer! Hope they gave a good furever home!
I did find a Abby mix on Petfinder. She's in MD and looks so sweet!

How pretty!! I had seen her on there too, but that is 2+ hours away from here. My BF wants to go back to the SPCA and see if we find another Ragdoll He is in love with Sasha, they are nap buddies now. I am going to keep watching Petfinder for Abys.

Speaking of Ragdolls, found this beaute on petfinder too! He's got the most beautiful eyes!
