I hope this demonstration turns out as peaceful as they hope!!! The organizers are requiring that participants dress formally and that they follow the "peaceful demonstration" guidelines. They recommend the people carry $50-$100 cash on them, for the bail money.
The Californians are enroute by train to show that railroads are the most economical form of transportation! Unfortunately, the President is using some of the money originally slated for transportation for tax breaks! Talk about the quickie fix

He's already said he would bankrupt the coal industry, the carbon tax he's proposing today should accomplish that. The coal industry has made great strides, penalizing them further doesn't help anyone. Companies don't absorb taxes, they pass them along. When people's electric bills are $1000 a month, look to the POTUS for answers.

I hope it's peaceful as well. I really have mixed feelings about such things. As dirty as coal is, it's FAR better than turning to nuclear power as a quick-fix alternative with grave long-term environmental and safety consequences. IMO we need to put a lot more effort into finding and improving other, safer means of meeting our country's energy needs before we stop using coal plants, and focus on making coal plants as clean as possible in the meantime.

I have never understood why many politicians and people think that raising taxes on businesses, industry, oil companies or whatever helps us, Joe Taxpayer when all they do is pass the tax on to us in the form of higher prices. But the politicians and the greenies fail to mention that.

Alternative energy sources should have been explored and developed DECADES ago. Oh but let's shut down what we have before we get anything else because that is a real smart decision. That will really stimulate the economy.

This Congress sucks so bad
