I think I am feeding my cats enough food....but I do have a larger male cat named Mike that seems to be searching for food mid day....my cats are all between 6 and 8.5 pounds ( all but one she is closer to 10 pounds ) and I am feeding them basicly the same amount....they get this 2x's a day morning and evening....1/8 ( maybe alittle more ) of a cup of wellness core and about 1/4 cup of wellness grain free canned...they don't seem thin..I do have an overweight cat...and she gets the same amount of food as the other...( so I don't get that either ...genetics I guess )..I am just wondering if I am giving them enough... ? Any thoughts on this ?

Our older kitty, Hannah, started fishing for food, even in odd placed like licking the grease out of pans on the stove. She was always a smaller cat and never seemed to gain much weight. We tried some diet changes, but at the time we moved our new vet suggested it was a thyroid condition, which we were able to get medicine for. It did seem to help at the time, though ultimately it led to her blindness, and she was always especially frail after that. She was about 10 years old when her thyroid condition developed, I think. It may be something entirely different, but you might check that out with your vet if other solutions don't seem to be working.

How old are your cats, and how active? Both of those will make a difference in how much food they need.

My heaviest cat is 13 and not very active....I have 3 cats that are 8 yrs old..and somewhat active..Mike is one of them....and I have a 7 month old who is super active and alittle on the chunky side..she has gained some weight since being spay last month..So I am not sure if I should be giving them different amounts of food ? Honestly I don't know how good cutting back would be...cause as u see above they don't get alot of food...well at least in my book...

I'm just wondering now...if I shouldn't be giving my senior cat ...a different kinda food ? I get so confused about pet foods...there is so much info out there all with different idea's on how and what food we should be giving out cats....I talked to the vets b4 about this...and I just end up wondering if they actually know whats the best food....to them the best food is the one they sale......tried it as well in the past and figured out it wasn't any better than cheaper food from pet supply store....
