I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Clematis vines? Last spring I bought two of these plants and they did beautifully all summer. This spring there is a problem....they haven't starting growing again!!! :flower: First of all, I pruned the vines in the early spring according to the growing instructions that came with the plants. Most of my yard is quite shady, and I have the vines planted in an area that gets about 4-6 hours of sun daily. So far this spring we have had a lot of cloudy, rainy days and it has been mostly cool. The vines are suited for zones 4-9, and I live in zone 4. My question is, since the vines haven't started to grow again are they still in their dormant state or are they dead????

We always had Clemantis at my parents home. My Dad trimmed it in winter, though, because it was next to a walkway. Some years it would take longer for it to come back. Never really sure why. It does take a few years for it come back quickly.
