Hi,

It seems that I have been expecting my 1 yr old cat to be giving birth forever now. Are there any obvious signs I can look for to tell me how far gone she is and to estimate time of arrival of her litter.

Her stomach is 2 or 3 times the size.
She waddles rather than walks.
She is being incredibly attention seeking.
He has located several places around the house hidden away and oftens tries them out for several hours at a time.
She has obviously enlarge nipples.

Or do I need to take her to the vet?

Sorry for being so stupid, but this is the first time I have gone through this.

you should take her to the vet for a check up but I think she is pretty close. Before they give birth they start MEOWINGGGGGG like crazy! And they pass back and forth. Some cats stop eating 24 hours before hand. And they start to lick "that area" alot.

Good luck with the babies and hope you will get momma fixed after she is doing weaning the kittens

Stuart,

Because of her young age, you should take her to the vet, so he can look at her, and before she delivers make sure he gets a phone call and keep his number handy just in case.

She will stop eating 24 hrs before labor begins, may become increasing restless, sometimes hostile, sometimes loving, it just depends on the cat. But a vet should see her so he knows the cat and can assess her condition.

Good luck-
