If anyone is interested in signing petitions at the ASPCA site for your own state, here is the link. You can only sign a petition that is being processed in your own state.

Any New Yorkers or know a New Yorker that would sign this petition to stop trapping and drowning of domestic cats!

New York: Stop Trapping and Drowning of Domesticated Cats

Legislation now pending in Albany will put a stop to a deplorable practice recently discovered to be occurring in New York - the erroneous treatment of domesticated cats as "wildlife" - resulting in trapping and inhumane killing of these companion animals.

Because domesticated cats are not "wildlife" at all and are in fact expressly defined in the Agriculture and Markets law as "companion animals" the law governing trapping in New York must be clarified so that beloved family pets are never again trapped and drowned as "nuisance wildlife".

A.6445/S.3275 (Glick/Maltese) would clarify the law by expressly stating that cats are not wildlife under the Environmental Conservation law.

Can you imagine what kind of person would apply for that job? I don't think the most skilled nurse could get a pulse; there isn't one. There are humane ways (if it's a necessity to reduce a herd.) But man usually upsets the balance of nature. When will we learn?

Same with PA, Barb. It could be that important problems in our state are not being addressed, too.

Bump bump bumpity bump.

It doesn't include Australia, but quite happy to bump it so others can see this thread if anyone missed it.

And drowning animals...well from a human that has almost drowned twice, it's not humane at all.
