We have 2 cats, male and female and they are both around 8 months old.

They have both been desexed but only today i saw the male on top of the female trying to be NaUghTY with her. He was biting her neck and she was growling. This is the first time we have seen this and wonder if this is normal for cats even when they have been desexed?

I think, at this point, it's not a "sexual" behavior, it's a "top cat" behavior. He is showing dominance over the female. If he was fixed after he reached sexual maturity, he will mount her when it's mating season. It's a habit, and some cats can't break it. One of my male cats was fixed when he was over a year old, he mounts the males to show dominance when they go on his turf!

Thank you for your reply crazy-cat-lover..

He was desexed when he was 11 weeks old, so he wasn't matured when he got it done..

He is actually the timid one out of them both but only recently he's been very snuggly and jumps on our bed now, i suppose you could say he's coming out of his shell..

From what I know (Im no professional, but arund cats a lot), it is quite normal at time for cats to be "romantic" or at least seem that way after getting "fixed". It probably is just a social thing - rather that sexual.

My 13yrs old male was fixed when he was 1, and still humps the fax machine from time to time (when it rings, it vibrates, and he likes the feeling
). Go figure...
