Hi all! I miss you!!! I've been having a couple of health problems recently (looks like I've got carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand - or something called peripheral neuropathy. Either way, I can no longer use my left hand, and I'm in insanely intense pain several times a day, and just plain constant pain all the time...), so I haven't been around much.... but to top it all off, I think it was two days ago my laptop crashed. It might be a few days before I'm back on line.

Sorry I don't have time to catch up and reply to some posts now, but I've really got to go....

I hope you miss me!!!!!

...and I really hope I see you soon!!!! (And I hope everyone's having a great weekend!!!!)

My sister had carpel tunnel, really bad pain and she lived with the pain for so long and then had the surgery for it done, and she is pain free. It was a simple surgery too I think.

Both my Mom and my Aunt have had both their hands done. They said the pain was unbearable. Mom even said the pain was worse than child birth...so it must be pretty dang bad!

Sending you get better vibes! I've missed your sweet posts!

Laurie,

I'm so sorry about your computer, but more about your wrist. I've heard that carpal tunnel really sucks. Have you looked into surgery? I believe it's outpatient, and everyone I know who has had it were very happy they did it.

Take care of yourself, girl! Hope you're back soon and in fighting shape!

I just saw this thread now!! So sorry to hear your troubles chikk!
I'm having my own computer problems as well. Rob thought it would be great to change operating systems. My computer has not been the same since he did this and certain things are missing since he didn't back them up!

Really sorry to hear about the carpel tunnel problems. Actually, I have to wear a wrist brace when I sleep at night because of injuring it in the past. Now I have to be extra careful and do wrist stretches and exercise it.

As others have mentioned, look into the surgery but read up on all the pros and cons. Some people have had success with the surgery, but others have not seen any change.

Postive vibes being sent your way!

Hi All! Well, as of late last week we got my computer working. YAY!!!!!

My laptop is no longer a laptop (*tear*), but at least I didn't loose anything! The screen quit working, and the battery doesn't charge anymore, so I have to stay plugged in and hooked up to the new screen... but at least Gary was able to copy ALL of my data files (and e-mail stuff!!!!) onto CD before wiping the whole thing and reloading everything.

Kass, did you move to XP or something? We've heard nothing but horror stories with it. We reinstalled my old Windows 98, with which I'm very happy.

I'm just SO GLAD we were able to retrieve all my work! There was a lot of stuff I hadn't sent along to the office in anything but PDF format, so if we hadn't been able to recover the data files, I really would have been up a creek without a paddle. It would have been quite a task re-creating the "underlying" Word and Excel files. *Phew* - and a HUGE sigh of relief!!!!

As to the carpal tunnel syndrome issue... The specialist called mid-last week with a cancellation, so I didn't have to wait for weeks!!!! I'm now trying Vioxx, which isn't working (so far). My Doc set up an appt for me on the 6th to have an EMG done (which is how they tell if it's carpal tunnel or some other type of nerve damage). If it's carpal tunnel, the next thing we do is cortisone injections (up to two). If that doesn't work, then we consider surgery, I think.

If it's not carpal tunnel syndrome... I'm not sure what happens next. I guess I'll have to let you know.

But I was a 70+ word per minute typer, and now I'm at less than half of that, typing with just my right hand. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

So I'll do my best to catch up on what I've missed, but it's hard just to keep up with work these days....

But at least I got my computer back!!!!!
