I honestly don't see why the attorney's find it so shocking. This and Guantanamo Bay are two different situations. Gitmo is a US Naval Installation under long term lease, basically US property, while facilities in Afghanistan are advanced combat operations bases. Not the same animals by a long shot.

Yes, I think there is a difference in "landlords" alright! I can understand why Human Rights activists are dismayed, though

Let them be dismayed. I have no sympathy for terrorists or their associates (ie-Taliban).

I completely agree. The attorneys can be dismayed, because in reality, all it is doing to them is cutting them off from an additional source of income.

Now, as for being shocked as it said in the article; the only people that will be shocked are those that kept up the unceasing election campaign agitprop that Obama would "release all the bad guys".

And also those that weren't listening to Obama when he claimed that there is far more common ground than what the partisan politics in our country seem to indicate.

He was president of Harvard Law Review. Do you think he doesn't understand law?
