Sheesh... where do I start?
Well, back in my 20s there was Heather, who was afraid of bridges. Doesn't
sound like much until you realize that she lived in Philadelphia and I lived in
NJ, so if I wanted to see her, I had to either drive or take the train over to
Philly, and everywhere we went (movies, restaurants, etc.) had to be in the
city, which was twice as expensive as it was in NJ!
The one time I managed to get her to come across the bridge into NJ, she
hid under a blanket in the passenger seat. Man, I got some strange looks
from the other drivers! Sunday night, when it was time for her to go back
home, she BEGGED me to drive down to Cape May to take the ferry across
to Lewes, Delaware then drive back up to Phila - only about 200 miles out
of my way!!!! I refused and we repeated the hyperventilating-under-the-blanket
scene for the trip home.
The relationship ended shortly thereafter.
The ironic thing (at least for me) is that she wanted to be a flight attendant!
Then there was Sophie, who would spend our time together gossiping about
her co-workers - people I had never met!! I knew who was sleeping with
who, who had just their car repossessed, who was maxing out their credit
cards to fly to Puerto Rico for the weekend to hook up with some guy she
met on vacation, etc. Annoying!!!
When I first moved to Atlanta, I almost took up my co-worker Ron on his offer
to move into his apartment and split the rent. That was until I learned that
Ron's last roomate left because Ron got high one night and sat on the couch
with a .38 pointed to his head.
Found out much later that Ron did a lot of coke and owed some people a LOT of money!
Only peeves with the current G/F is that she's a bit of a neat freak, and
tends to get sarcastic when she doesn't get her way.
Of course, she has absolutely no problems with me.... I'm perfect!!
