My vet told me that he would stop!!! After all the medications for his tummy virus were over with. Well, he is still passing gas. I don't understand how kitty food can smell so bad coming from him. Any suggestions. The vet told me to just wait it off. But there isn't enough fresh air around here

If he is still eating that kitten chow like you said he was before, then that is probably what is causing it...You need to feed him a quality food...I'd say if his stools looks normal and he's acting ok, he's just a gassy little baby. she'll grow up soon and probably get much better! If you notice diarrhea or anything else strange though, get it checked out at the vet.
flatulence is also caused by eating highly fermentable foods such as onions (do NOT feed onions in any form to cats), beans, cauliflower, cabbage, and soybeans, drinking large quanitites of milk, I noticed you were giving your cats milk... and swallowing large amounts of air while eating. Also, diets high in carbohydrates and fiber may contribute to it.

Switching from commercial diets to highly digestible prescription diets (example: Hill's c/d) will stop the gas. Free feeding prevents greedy eating and air gulping. A human med called Flatudex is often used by vets for cats with excessive gas....

Poor Smeagol...everyone calls him a "she" he is a little boy by the way. Alright well no, he is on Hill's i/d, and has been. The milk is a special kitty milk to calm his tummy down. The vet gave it to him when he had the tummy virus. The milk had a special medicine in it. He has been taking a pill called "Metronidazole" it is a pill to stop infection in the tummy. It is a burner pill. May'be that has something to do with it. At the vet, where I used to work, when giving this to kittens it can cause a bubble in the tummy because it's a "fire pill." A pill that burns the throat and tubes and tummy as it goes down. What do you think? Do you think that could cause gas? I have never seen it cause it on older cats, but may'be because he is only 4months old.

I've got a 7 month old with the same problem. She stinks so bad I have to open the garage door to let the bathroom air out. She's also on Presciption ID and that doesn't help. She's been on flagel and that didn't help. She's real gassy and bloated. Also has real loose stools. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

jeweled-

Has she been to the vet recently to be tested for parasites or giardia? You can give her a little bit of Kaeopectate, depending on her weight, just call you vet and ask him how much to give her.

If she has been seen by a vet, and it is just something you have to live with you can try this product. I have heard it works, but I have never used it. Never had to-

The flagel is a medication for giardia. I would be leary giving her kaeopectate without a vet's permission. Has anyone had any experience with a holistic vet? I wonder what they would perscribe.

Poor baby - he might have a hard time digesting his food - corn, wheat and dairy can be a big cause of this. My Loki has food allergies (loose, bloody stools) and the only thing that settled it was a food called Life's Abundance. It's for all live stages (Kitten - Senior). It's holistic and I totally swear by it!

Here is the website if you care to take a look.

WHERE DO YOU GET IT? IS IT PERSCRIPTION? OR AT ANY PET STORE WE GO TO A DIFFERENT VET AGAIN TOMARROW. SEE WHAT SHE SAYS. IT'S GETTING EXPENSIVE! I DON'T MIND PAYING THE MONEY BUT I'D LIKE SOMETHING THAT WORKS
