12 year old cat had UTI back in august. Was treated with antibiotics things cleared up but he still had bacteria. Now in Jan urine sample showed alot of bacteria so gave him more medicine and now that cleared up. But back in August after I stopped medicine he seemed to be drinking a lot more water than usual and peeing much more. Could it have been a result from the UTI or perhaps a coincidence that he's now drinking much water and another problem has happened, he seems happy and fine. Vet recommended a blood test and thyroid to see if its anything else?

I would have a full blood panel, thyroid and urinalysis done. Drinking too much can be from CRF (cronic renal failure) or diabetes to name two causes. Both can be managed but you need to catch them as soon as possible.

for your cat.

I would get the Blood Panel and Thyroid tests.
Thats how we found out Coco had Crf.
Her thyroid was a little lo also.
I am afraid your cat will get the bladder infection back and it will end up in the kidneys like Cocos did.
Get both tests and post the numbers here.
