I am brand new to this forum. I am searching for answers and information on Chyle. My Spot had to be put down yesterday due to build up of Chyle in her abdomen. Her prognosis was bleak and I wouldn't have her suffer. Has anyone dealt with this hideous thing? On another note, I have strong opinions on feline nutrition and the fillers the catfood companies use. I have searched the internet for info on Chyle, and what I really need is some support from someone who has been there. Thanks so much.

This is a great place for support and understanding, I would go to the front of the forum page and go to I think its called Crossed the bridge, there you will find others who have lost their fur babies!

I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure one of the "older cats" will be able to direct you better, I just wanted to pay my respects

I have no idea what Chyle is, but I am so sorry for your loss. You will find here at TCS, almost all of us have had the heart break of losing a loved kitty. I hope someone comes along who has more information about why may have gone wrong with your kitty.

I am so sorry.

Three years ago, my sister lost her heart cat, Rocky, to Chylothorax. From what I could find out about it, Chyle (lymphatic fluid) leaks out into the chest (Chylothorax) or abdominal cavity (Chyloperitoneum). The causes can be tumors, trauma and idiopathic (unknown). They never did find out exactly what caused Rocky's death. The only way to (maybe) find out what caused Spot's death would be to have a necropsy done.

Again I am so sorry.

RIP Spot

Just wanted to thank all you for your kind words about my sweet Spot. We all have to face this sooner or later with our little friends. I send hugs to all of you and your critters too. Shannon
