We've got two, and they are not appetizing pets.

I'm going down to the West Coast of the South Island next Friday to judge at a show and I'll be eating crayfish. So I better suck it up and [wo]man up before then!

I've had my share of bad experiences due to my adventurous eating habits...I used to think "why not try it, I may never have this opportunity again." When I was in Mississippi (one of my favorite places), the hotel had a buffet with crawfish. People were so excited and piling their plates high with them. My friend said she'd try one if I would. I don't know why, but I was expecting it to taste like lobster. The more I tried to peel it, the more I looked at its little spindley legs, the more it reminded me of a roach. I wrapped him in a napkin and told the waitress "he's in there." She said she didn't like them either and wisked him away.

I'm going to have to look that up...doesn't sound bad! Just as long as I don't have to see a face attached to my fork LOL

they taste like a cross between lobster & shrimp - sweeter than shrimp, not as sweet as lobster.

Just so you guys know crawfish is different than a crayfish.

Crayfish are BIG well just a little bit smaller then lobsters.

ETA: OK i just did some google research and it says they are the same thing - but our crays are big here anyway we don't eat the small ones?!

Then crayfish there would be like a cheaper lobster dinner? I still don't think I could eat them just served on a plate whole. I like crabmeat but wouldn't want the entire crab served. It's almost like a phobia - faces of what you're eating on your plate just grosses me out

Wow, I had no idea. Here we have crawfish and they're real small. At that price I'd be glad NOT to eat them

a couple of years ago i was visiting my family, my uncle brought home eel! i got so scared because i saw a black snake on the bench and they were ready to cut it up and eat it! I went green and they saw i was about to chuck so they shoved it in the fridge and waited until i left
