Has anyone tried this? It's Canadian made, wheat and potato free. What are your thoughts?

3 to one ratio is NOT ideal , 5 to 1 to 10 to 1 generally accepted as best

it is a good food IMHO by reading it but lots of ??ables as with most holistic type foods

3:1 ratio of what? I would also prefer that fish be listed farther down or excluded but I haven't seen any grain free foods that don't contain fish around here...

How would you compare this to Orijen, which is what I'm currently feeding? I know that the Orijen scare is apparently only in Australia (government to blame) but I'm not sure if I should be a bit wary or not...

Deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, lake whitefish, chicken fat, sweet potato, whole eggs, deboned turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, salmon, natural chicken flavour, sunflower oil, sun-cured alfalfa, dried brown kelp, carrots, spinach, peas, tomatoes, apples, psyllium, dulse, glucosamine Hcl, cranberries, black currants, rosemary extract, chondroitin sulfate, sea salt.

TONIC HERBS AND BOTANICALS

Chicory root, licorice root, tumeric root, funugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, zea mays, peppermint leaf, chamomile flowers, dandelion, summer savory, rosehips.

ORGANIC MINERALS

Iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate.

PROBIOTIC MICROORGANISMS

Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product.

PREMIUM VITAMINS

Mixed tocopherols (source of vitamin E), choline chloride, vitamin A, vitamin D3, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12, folic acid, biotin.

Alright thanks.
I'm going to the store tonight so I may try out the horizon legacy and see if it works better for my one kitty that I believe has an allergy (to what, I'm not sure). He's doing pretty good on the no grain food, but his poops are still soft sometimes. Especially if he gets treats or wet food.

That ingredient list sounded bad to me. There should not be any vegies, fruit, berries, seed oils. Please try to find food that is mostly meat and meat by products.

farleyv- I'm hoping that, at the very least, you're meaning a specific meat's by-products....as in "chicken by-products" versus "meat by-products"......

Batten down your hatches for sure, after your post and my reply....I'm sure the storm is coming on!

Folks, before you start in on specific by-products.....does anyone think their cats would do poorly on mouse "by-products"?

mouse by products eaten vary by cat though..
... here no one will eat the brain yet many cats will... mine prefer liver ,kidneys...

Meat by products and Meat is oh too General as BLAISE pointed out
... that could by some definitions = cat , dog or horse

Yeah, I'm not buying any commercial food with by-products in it. And why do you think the ingredients list sounds bad, farleyv? You aren't going to find a food that doesn't contain ANY sort of veggies/fruits unless you go raw, which is not what I want to do. What I'm feeding now (Orijen) is very high in meat protein as it is. The Horizon Legacy doesn't look bad at all.
