It wasn't one of my regulars, but I fed it a few times. Makes me so mad! Number one, that CARELESS people were speeding (schools out now too, 3:30ish), and number two, that whoever that cat belonged to, or use to belong to, didn't care enough about their cat to keep it inside, or keep it from wandering off, or bring it to the humane society if they didn't want it. Poor thing.

I keep plastic totes and latex gloves in my car for times like this. Whenever I see a dead cat on the side of the road, I stop and pick it up and take it home to bury it. Have never figured out why a cat can lay on the side of the road for weeks but the road department will pick up a dog right away.

RIP sweet kitty...

I know that part of this is just the anger of finding the cat, but please dont automatically assume that just because the cat was in the road it was not cared for. I have seen multiple threads on here about a cat accidentally getting let out and the owners have been very upset worried about situations just like this. And also with how fast these things can happen how can you be sure that the person was just carelessly speeding and not that the poor freaked out cat didnt just run out when it was too late for the driver to do anything without risk of hurting themselves?
I know this sounds harsh and I'm sorry I'm the kind of person that looks at both sides of the situation. And also the fact that I lost an indoor cat to the road because the people fixing up our bathroom accidentally didnt shut the door all of the way when they went to the truck and our cat got out and was hit by a car. And I loved that cat a bunch and it was far from neglected.

Okay, the driver may not have been speeding, but they left it there. And I've seen it out numerous times and it didn't have a collar. I'm sure it could be an honest mistake, I just feel bad for the poor sweet kitty.

Poor sweet thing... at least it was over quickly.

No need to worry though, he's over the bridge soaking up the sunshine and nibbling on the grass now!
