Jake used to be the bravest little kitten I had ever seen. He attacked humans all the time and never worried about being stepped on, like he didn't know that's a possibility. He used to always bother humans, there wasn't a time when he wouldn't attack anyone who is in the same room as him. It was like we were his toys. Now he plays a lot more independently. He will find a toy to play with and do that for hours, all by himself. And if he starts playing with me, he runs away kinda quikcly as if I'm playing too rough with him. He almost never has his tail curved up in the air in that play position. Also, recently he has started making these noises, when he plays by himself he makes these meows with his mouth closed that sound almost like growling but not as deep and scary. He usually makes this noise right before he jumps or before he decides to get up. Are all of these behaviors normal for a kitten who just turned 4 months? Maybe it's part of the aging process, I don't know that's why i thought i'd ask...

Is he hiding from you or flinching away like he is afraid he going to get stepped on?

He sounds like he is just getting a little more independent, which mine did as they got older.

As long as he is just acting independently and not fearful I wouldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t worry too much, but thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s just me.

He's not really fearful unless we are playing. If I approach him he doesn't run away, he is actually more cuddly than usual, he has started sleeping on my bed only..before he slept on top of his cat tree and only occasionally on my bed. But when he hears a noise, he runs away when before hearing a noise made him curious what the noise is and whether it's something he can play with, and I haven't changed the way I play with him but he still runs away as soon as the play gets a bit tough. I dunno, I guess my main concern is there may be something wrong with his health and this change in behavior to be signaling that....because he is a bit less active too. If I throw a balled up paper he will chase after it but doesn't throw himself at my hands the way he used to...And he will occasionally go in another room and sleep there ...He used to only sleep at night and when i'm not there..

My cats used to sleep wherever they wanted to but now they sleep on my bed up next to me almost exclusively.

He sounds normal to me but if you are at all concerned about his health I would take him to the vet straight away, it wonâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t hurt to get him checked out.

Wasnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t he recently neutered? Perhaps it has something to do with that?

Yea, I guess he is becoming more aware of the possibility of danger too. Today it was really windy and as the wind made noise, Jake hid under the bed
I am not used to him being like this!!
