I've been pretty curious about this, and I posted it elsewhere before, but it wasn't a cat specific forum, so they didn't give me much insight.

Anyway, I have 2 cats, one being my 3 year old tabby named Xiao Hua (Chinese for little flower.) He will jump up where we keep our blow drier, and get excited everytime either my boyfriend or I shower/take a bath. He'll constantly meow at us, jump on the shower railing, and try to swat at us whenever close, or he'll almost motion to jump in.
If I peek through the shower stall and he's sitting on the toilet seat nearby he'll stare directly at me, and literally paw at me as to try to drag me out or something (?)

What drives him so nuts about the shower? He'll give me this look, that is so expressive.. it's like he's upset with me or something when he meows during these times.

Not sure why, but I've seen other cats be excited about showers/baths. Two of our three can be depended on to come in the bathroom when we're bathing, either in the tub or shower. And they get extremely affectionate when we get out. I've said it before, but who knows what goes on in these little pea brains?

That's so cute! The other cat I have does that too, and gets crazy upset if I don't let him in.

It really does make you wonder. I mean neither of us mind, we find it kind of cute in a way, just pretty odd.
Cats sure are quirky.

Both of my cats always left the bathroom when I showered, and I suspected they didn't like the sound.

If your cats seem upset at all, does your shower signal that it's a work day and you're getting ready to leave? That may be what they're responding to.

My current guy hates it when I leave the house, but he usually shows his displeasure when I'm actually at the door.

My former cat always left the bathroom and went to sleep in the morning whever she heard the shower because she knew there was no more play time and I'd soon be gone for the day.

Couple of wild guesses... Maybe it's because your cat thinks you're washing away the scent markings he leaves when he rubs up on you? Or he hates water and is trying to "rescue" you from it?

Two of my cats will sit on the toilette seat when my gf or I are in the shower. If we check to see if one of them are there we'll see them watching quietly

For a while, Girlie would jump in the tub immediately after we get out and either walk around, watch the last of the water go down the drain, or drink whatever water is dripping from the tap

I was thinking the same about scent.
One of mine would prefer i never showered, anmd the other loves to get in

Harley thinks I've abandoned her completely when I go into the shower (she hates being alone - even for two seconds). She absolutely hates water, so she won't come anywhere near the bathroom, but I hear her yowling for me the entire time I'm in there. As soon as I come out, she's right back to her normal self.

In a case of complete opposites, my other cat, Snickers (
) would just invite himself into a shower and absolutely enjoy it.

Hennessy just waits until the curtain is closed and then sneaks into the bathroom and attacks it. If we don't warn people this might happen you get to hear little startled squeals out of the bathroom when the shower curtain suddenly slaps them in the leg.

Once the shower curtain opens, he bolts, and pays it no mind.

If it's closed and no one's in the shower he could care less too... maybe he just likes scaring people.
