Cleo is treating Sasha very bad because Sasha was spayed today.
She is hissing and growling at her.
She did the same thing to Meeko last month.
I tried the vanilla but it did not work.
My other cats are not mad at Sasha.

She only does it if one of them has surgery.
It took four days before she liked Meeko again.
If they go to the vet and stay she never hisses.
I think she smells what ever was used on her when she was spayed because she backs up and shakes also.

It's probably the same stuff they used when she got spayed, and got traumatized by it... She probably recgnizes the smell and relates to her painful experience...

I am sure it will pass once the smell goes, they depend so much on their sense of smell to recognise each other and for familiarity in their surroundings.

I have an unusual situation in that I have never had difficulty with a cat returning from the vet, except that the others lick and groom him excessively to make him smell familiar again, which sometimes leads to annoyance from the cat who has had not just a vet visit but a 2 hour licking session from one of the others! You can see the "just leave me alone!" expression on his poor face after a while.

Thats what my cats do except when one of them has surgery.
Thats the only time Cleo acts that way.

My female cat will always hiss at my male cat when he comes back from staying at the vets. It usually lasts three days. My male doesn't do it to my female cat. She only stayed at the vets once to be spayed and he was just real curious and sniffed her all over. Once he did that he was fine and never did hiss at her. The vet said she thought the females were more prone to hissing at unfamiliar smells. Maybe it's something built into them to protect kittens.

Each kitty is different, and apparently your Cleo is more upset by strange smells/foreign cats than your other girls are. I have one like that, but once scents mix and he gets used to it he's fine. Your Cleo just needs time.

I've never had vanilla work either. My Tomas simply isn't that easy to fool.

As long as no one is fighting, just let them be. I know it's a bit nerve wracking to listen to, though.
If you can, update the thread in a couple days as to whether Cleo's over it yet.
