i think my cat may have a cold - he's been sneezing for nearly 24 hours now, and while he is still himself, eating etc, he has not been out for most of the day, most unlike him, even sat through my 4 year old nephew andhis crazy antics, where he would normally just go out until the coast was clear!

How can I help him feel better?

Do you think he would have a reason to be stressed out? When we moved my cat sneezed quite a bit for a couple of weeks and the vet said it was because he was stressed.

I just wanted to check and see if your kitty is still sneezing? I am going through this with my two babies and I know how stressful it is

If he has the typical URI (Upper Respiratory Infection), it's the equivalent of a cold for us. It's caused by a virus, so there really isn't much you can do for it, same as a cold. Keep an eye on him. If you took him to the vet, all they could do would be to try to treat any secondary bacterial infections; antibiotics won't touch the virus. However, if he gets really sick, they can maintain him. Most young, healthy cats will fight off the infection in a week or so.

Yep, I found out today that my Samantha who is about 8 is considered "Middle aged" I laughed so hard when the vet told me!! It's true, Levi who is about 6mo. is getting better, I don't know if it is because of the antibiotics or not, but the vet doesn't want me to stop them, of course.

Samantha, however has a 105 fever, lethargic, won't eat or drink and has required more intervention to try to start her getting better.

She has NEVER been sick in her WHOLE life, and today to be THIS sick was really hard on us. Poor kitty, these URI's are no joke. If we had not gotten her in for tx for the fever mainly, the vet said she could have not made it...

WOW... a cold..
