ok, here's what you do.. get all their bedding out in the livingroom.. tell the girls to go put on their PJ"s while you pop some pop corn and make hot coacoa.. turn off the lights, and pop in a movie.. should wind them down, and most of them (if not all) will just pass out on the livingroom floor!

ah getting them all to focus on a movie is ussually the trick!

Some parents allow their kids to just stay up at weird hours.. you'd be surprised how many kids are used to a later schedule.

ok, they are 5, so it wont be too dorky to suggest the same thing, but reading a story instead of a movie!

Here's a trick I used when escorting teen boys on an overnight trip.

I told them that I had trouble getting to sleep, but once asleep, their talking wouldn't bother me. So I asked them to stay quiet for 15 minutes while I got to sleep.

By the time 10 minutes was up, they were all asleep!

I tell you what.. I'll trade you kids for the nite... you can take my 5 week old.. she gets up every 3 hours to eat and be changed.. a task that takes about half an hour or so... sometimes it takes another hour to get her back to sleep once she's fed and changed!

I'll take your group of 5 year olds.

I thought about how I worded this later.. didnt mean anything by your parenting.. but meant that the other girls may be used to a later schedule than your daughter.. so they are wide awake when its past her bedtime.

glad they did eventually pass out.. cant wait till mine gets to the point that she passes out, and stays asleep for a while!

Next time, take them all skating or swimming first, and limit their sugar intake. I'm glad you made it and the night is over! Next, you should have a quiet night when it's another parent's turn to have your daughter over.
