Do you miss your cat(s) when you're at work or away for very long?

I miss Poppy when I'm at work.
I also worry about him so I race home at lunch to check on him and play with him for 30 minutes then I have to race back to work. I'm not sure when I'll stop going home at lunch to check on him. I am going through alot more gas though.

Also, if I need to go to the store, I don't stop after work anymore. I come home first, play with Poppy for a little bit and then go back out.

Yup! I sure do miss Larry when i'm gone. I put his picture on my computer at work, and everyone at work always goes by and says, "Awww.....Larry. How's Larry?"

I got a new cellphone, and it has a camera, and, of course, the first pics I took were of Larry, and I made him the wallpaper on my phone so i can carry him with me all the time. Geesh. I'm hopeless.

I love the stretch he does when I come home. He jumps down from wherever he's been sleeping and gives a big stretch and flops down so I can rub his belly.

I miss them terribly. I think one great thing about having cats again is that it's so nice to come back home though. You know, it used to be such drag when vacations were over or you had to come home from a nice hobby weekend or visiting friends etc. No such worries anymore. I am hurrying back home because there is always someone who is loving to see me.

Yup...in fact I don't take the long vacations like I did pre-cat time. One day trips, occasional over night. I always worry about them and I don't like to have other people take care of them

Work frequently calls me away from home, usually about once a month. Sometimes, it's this one thing I do that's just over 100 miles away, and two hours in normal traffic. Sometimes I find accommodations, sometimes I commute.

I really don't like being away from my cats. Sometimes my decision to stay over or drive back is based on the cats. My GF takes care of them when I'm gone, so I know they're ok.

When we go on longer trips, we usually leave them at her parents' house... it doesn't cost anything, the place is already cat friendly (they have two), all four cats more or less get along, and Pumpkin & Zero really like it there because they have so much more space to run around... but I still worry that they're not being looked after with the same level of care and attention that I give them.

Also, when I go home to visit my parents overnight, I often find it hard to go to sleep because my cats aren't there for me to pet and hear their purring while they're lying beside me (or on top of me).

I think my brain may have been taken over by a couple of love-bug cats! Is there any hope for me!?

Last year, I was scheduled for a 4-day stay in Indianapolis to watch the MotoGP motorcycle races. Quite an extravaganza, with pit passes, qualifying sessions, and support races. I was pretty pumped about it when I ordered the tickets the year before, but then as it got closer, I realized that I wasn't sure I could be away from my cats that long. I "interviewed" the friend that was supposed to take care of them while I was gone, and though things seemed fine, the thought of one of them sneaking past as she came in/went out the door was unbearable. I figured if nothing else, my odds are better with fewer trips on her part, so I ultimately trimmed it down to a two-day event (with hotel reservations made). Days before the event I scaled it back even further to "leave Sunday morning, watch race, stay over, come back Monday morning", without any check-up visits necessary.

As it turned out, the entire Midwest was flooded with rain that weekend as a result of Hurricane Ike. The race was not run the full distance due to conditions, and it looked like a miserable time. I say "looked" because as a result, I didn't make the trip at all. I came down terribly sick that Saturday and couldn't make it anyway (I'm still convinced I literally worried myself sick as a result of the kitty-sitting issue). It was a blessing in disguise, because my basement flooded from the heavy rains, and without me there to deal with it (still sick as a dog), I likely would have arrived home Monday to at least a good 6" of wet basement.

On top of that, the next day (Monday), I tore cartilage in my knee walking to my car in the morning, likely as a result of the stresses from walking up and down the stairs the day prior due to the basement issue. At that time, I was dealing with a fully torn ACL and the knee was very weak and unstable. But as a result of that moment, I decided to finally get the reconstructive surgery I had been putting off for months.

So, although at first glance a seemingly terrible weekend, it in fact was a godsend that things turned out how they did. All as a result of my inability to leave my kitties.

I miss my kitten, Cocoa
, so much when I'm at work. I just got him around 3 weeks ago and me and my siblings, (even my parents!) have bonded with him so well, he is just so lovable. He is very playful and it's so funny to see what he does next.

Also, when it comes to bathing or nail clipping he is very gentle, I cannot believe that my first time is going very smoothly. Best decision I have made so far to get a kitten. I just look through my phone at his pictures when at work, and cant wait to get home to him, I think he has made my life much more organised than before.

I'm always thinking about what he is doing when I am at work, ofcourse sleeping a lot like he does and running around like crazy lol. My sister looks after him at home all day. Unbelievable so many other poeple feel the same when at work, thought it was only me ha

If he is your avatar, he's adorable!

I don't miss them so much when I'm at work, but I think about them throughout the day, whether they're sleeping, tearing up the house, killing each other (my M & Ms don't get along and they tend to really pick on each other even when I'm home). When we go away over night and I have a pet sitter there, I'm OK because I really do trust my pet sitter. But my sister also comes in, mostly to make sure Mollipop and Muffin are still alive and we talk every night when I'm gone, so I know what's going on with the cats. And when we're on vacation, it's weird to go to bed without Mollipop in my left arm and Muffin in my right arm. However, I can roll over in bed without worrying about disturbing them....and that's a good thing.

I miss my cats too when I am at work, and often think of what they are doing. We haven't had a proper vacation in years, I can't shut up my Casper in the house for long or he takes it out on my poor senior, Burt. My husband gets so mad when we can only stay away overnight, but I don't know how to solve the problem. I just wanted to welcome you to cat ownership (although no one truly OWNS a cat!) and to let you know you are definitely NOT alone! Good luck with your kitten!

I'm retired but when I spend the night away from home which isn't often, I do miss Autumn a lot.  I know she is lonely when I'm not there.  I'm sure most of us miss our kitties when we're not at home for hours, their our kids and we worry and miss them a lot.

I miss Oliver when I'm not here. Thanksgiving happened just a week and a half or so after I adopted him, and we went to my sister's for the day. I really missed him! And she has a cat that looks almost exactly like him, which is sort of wild.

Since it's been Christmas break, I've been home every day for a couple of weeks now. Classes start back Wednesday. It's going to be rough. I've got some long days this semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'm really going to miss him.

I don't know if "miss" is the right word, but I do think of both of them frequently throughout the day and, look at their photos too.

I'm sure my BF thinks I give them a much better greeting than the one he gets when I get home at night and he's probably right.  It's just that they can't understand English very well so I have to be extra delighted to see them when I walk in the door

I totally miss my babies if I'm out for a long time! I think about them and if I see a cat hair on myself I smile. I would feel a little crazy admitting this anywhere but here, haha!

Oh, and it's awfully nice to know I am missed too - as soon as I walk in the door Mourek comes running and weaves around my legs and rubs on my legs, the walls, anything around. I love seeing that kind of kitty joy :)

I absolutely miss my cats when I'm at work. I have pictures of them above my desk though, which helps.  But I can't wait to get home and give them cuddles!

We left for summer holidays today. My daughter said she missed our babies 10 minutes after leaving home. My other daughter and I agreed we missed them too. We are going home halfway through our holiday to visit the kittens for their first birthday. Last year my parents in law fed Webby and Ruben (Rip). They face timed us so we could see Ruben and he could see and hear us. We have new cat sitters this year. I totally trust them and know the cats will be fine but I do miss them already. I really- really miss them. I shouldn't have read this thread. Now I'm homesick.
