I no more "hammered" at her position than she "hammered" at mine. I did not attempt to "shut her down" any more than she attempted to do the same to me. She stated an opinion and I countered. That she insisted on continuing to reiterate the same position over and over without offering any substantial information to support that position was her choice. All I did was not her let have the last word. If she or anyone expects their opinion to go unchallenged they can expect to be disappointed.

BTW - Getting lectured about "belittling" and "politeness" is a real hoot considering what goes on in these forums from those of a particular political persuasion.

It was certainly evident who was reiterating "the same position over and over". Yes, we understand Warren Buffett believes in GE...

You may certainly choose to see my reply to you as a "lecture". You wrote that you "found it interesting that I chose to see disagreement as 'testy'." I simply gave you an explanation as to why I considered your posts "testy". You don't want to acknowledge that many of your replies to ckblv were indeed rude. When you continually and blatantly dismiss someone's opinion, to me that's trying to shut them down.

Ckblv has been posting in IMO long enough to know that she can expect disagreements with her position. That's the point of IMO, isn't it, to debate issues? I guarantee that she doesn't expect her opinions to go unchallenged. But I think most of us want to at least have a civil debate.

I also do not believe for a second that "those of a particular political persuasion" have a corner on rudeness in this forum. I've seen people from both sides of the aisle get mean.

Since "getting the last word" seems to be important to you, you may have it should you choose to reply to this post. I think enough time has been spent on this subject.

Ahhhh, so now we spin this to Cheney? Nice try.

Disagreements can be discussed politely. This has not been a polite discussion. To anyone reading ckblvs posts, especially those highlighted above, it's clear that:

a) my opinion doesn't matter because GE's stock is currently in the tank. She continually hammered this fact by citing it in 4 separate posts.

b) she has no patience nor respect for my opinion as evidenced by remarks such as "I thought it was common knowledge that Immelt has run GE into the ground." and "My word, that is obvious.", among others.

I agree, the thread isn't about Cheney at all, which I stated 3 times. But it's a nifty little diversion from the real issue of the double standard being employed to criticize Immelts appointment based on his company's past dealings with Iran.

This thread has taken on far too personal a tone. Please focus your posts on your opinions of the topic and related subjects. If you wish to spar over your opinions of other poster's opinions, then please take those discussions to PM's. But by all means, play nice. Thank you
