My father lives in Lone Grove, OK. Small town hit by tornadoes. 9 dead with 40 unaccounted for.

He hasn't been a part of our lives for about 30 years. Haven't seen his face in decades. He was not a good father.

My brothers and I are all just holding a collective breath waiting to see.

Just not sure how to feel.

Oh honey... I hope he was not among those lost. No matter how things stand between you, I imagine it's still better to know he's there than to find out he's gone.

They released the list of tornado fatalities. My step-mother, Molly, is on the list. Not my father.

I met Molly once over twenty years ago. She seemed like a good woman. Rest in Peace, Molly.

I am so very sorry to hear that and glad that your father -tho' he is not in your life now - survived.

He is ok. His sister in Iowa got a call and her sister emailed me. Two of my brothers are flying out tonight at midnight to be there for Molly's memorial service tomorrow. They are such better people than I am.

I think it is good to know he's ok.

No, sweetie, they're not better people... just a little tougher, maybe, or maybe they suffered less with him than you did. Don't feel bad.
