After several urine tests, several complete blood panels, a needle biopsy, 2 ultrasounds and 3 Vets opinions, Rome has been diagnosed with a pretty nasty kidney infection.
He's now on some pretty potent antibiotics, with one more test to come in to determine the best antibiotic to use.
The initial diagnosis was CRF! We were devastated, but determined to dig long and deep in our pockets for answers. Thank God that diagnosis has been eliminated.

He's in good spirits and the happy boy he always is, but a spare vibe or two for his quick recovery would be appreciated.

My beautiful boy had a good portion of his pelt shaved off for the ultrasound.

A section of him now looks like a rosetted sphynx.
At least I know now that his rosettes go skin deep.

He used to look like this:

Lots of get-well-soon headed Rome's way! He is a beautiful boy and bless you for not taking the first opinion. Any chances of a now picture? I'd love to see the rosettes on his skin and I'm sure he's still handsome!

Something all the recent breeding posters need to think about.

Sending many vibes for your lovely boy

Rome vibes coming your way. Hope he's feeling better soon. (I'd like to see the after pics too - Oci spots are on the surface).

Thanks for the vibes everyone!

I hate to post these pics! But here they are:

This first photo shows the extent of the shaving

In this photo you can see the wound on his neck from the blood draws. For some reason they had trouble getting blood from anywhere else.

Prayers for Rome.
I am glad its not Crf.
My Coco has Crf and I am doing everything I can for her.
Her bladder infections got in her kidneys and now its Crf.
I hope you can stop Romes infection before it goes to crf.

Healing Vibes for Rome

May I ask what his symptoms were? I caught my cat Dion peeing in the sink yesterday and I think a vet trip is in order for him.

Oh my, you have had a lot going on!

Poor half-nekkid Rome, here are some more that he recover quickly and that he has no lasting problems!

I want to touch his belly now...

Thank-you!

Rome had excessive thirst and excessive urination. He always used his box, but he was drinking close to a half gallon of water per day and urinating that back out.

Ooof! I am so sorry to hear that Roma isn't well. Here's for a quick recovery and that the drugs will kick in asap and get him better.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Its always interesting to see the spotted skin underneath the coat.

Amanda, maybe on the belly it goes to the skin, but not on the sides. Flip your cats fur back - you will see the pattern is only on the surface - it is with Charlie and I've heard Oci breeders say the spots should not be down to the skin.

I've also heard a judge say that is how they "test" some suspected crossing of Oci and Bengal - if the spotting goes to the skin, its a Bengal or cross. I'll have to check with some of my other Oci breeders on this to be sure.
