Hi all, my name is Mike. My girlfriend and I adoped three cats last summer. Girlie is a year and a half old Himalayan we got from a privately run animal shelter outside of Hamilton. Oscar and Obie are 9 year old domestic long hair brothers from the Toronto Animal Shelter... We're not sure about their original owner but we were told that he or she was a disabled person who moved into a nursing home. The landlord came to clean out the apartment and found these two cats and surrendered them to the shelter... Anyway, my girlfriend really wanted the Himalayan and I really wanted the brothers so we decided to get all three at the same time. They all get along great and seem concerned for each other when we isolate one of them for a bath or to remove poo stuck in the long bum hairs

These three are my first pets not including goldfish. My girlfriend had a few cats when she was a kid. As with anything new to me, I've been doing a lot of searching around the Internet for any info I can find realted to cats and stumbled upon this site. Been lurking around anonymously for a few weeks looking at various threads and thought it was time I registered and introduced myself and my furball friends.

Look forward to chatting with you all

Welcome!

Cats are different from any other animal man has ever "domesticated." That's in quotes, because some experts think that cats actually moved in with us, rather than us capturing them. They are the only non-pack or non-herd animal we deal with. As such, their social relationships are not well understood and sometimes are unpredictable.

Your cats will undoubtedly do things than delight you, but they will also do things that will annoy you, puzzle you, even anger you. Feel free to ask any questions in the various sections of the forum, where someone might be able to steer you in the right direction.

As a volunteer at a shelter, I want to thank you for adopting there.
