Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but with all the problems with stuff coming here from China, and them chewing the heck out their toys, I'd like to find something made in the US (not that that is necessarily any safer). I know that Petsmart and Pet Supermarket toys are all made in China, and the online and catalog places don't specify country of origin. Anyone have any idea?

I am not sure where you can buy them not being from china.....but if you look up homemade cat toys it will give you lots of neat ideas to make them toys yourself!just add catnip and the kitties will LOVE it, and you know it is safe

Thanks, I agree, and I've done a bit of that, but unfortunately I'm not that creative and most of my attempts have not turned out very good.

Thank you for your vote of confidence! I am Auntie Em. I also try to buy all of my materials from U.S. manufacturers. It's sometimes hard, so I absolutely understand your frustration with imported goods from China.

Small manufacturers like myself can't sell to the big box stores (Petsmart), as the quantities would overwhelm us and we could never get our price low enough to compete with goods from China. I do work with small, locally owned upscale pet stores. The ones that push for all natural diet and holistic remedies are the ones that are most likely to support local crafts people. Their prices might be a little higher, but IMO, you get what you paid for.

So if you have one in your area, find a pet health food store and if they don't sell local items, ask them to start doing so. People like me would appreciate that type of support.

Karroway Cat Toys. Only found in cat shows (Not sure about TICA shows but certainly in a lot of CFA shows), tried and tested on Abyssinians (since they are Aby breeders!) Excellent stuff, I bought 100 bucks worth at the Internationals and savour them!

Amy brings up a good point. Buying things that are made in the USA doesn't necessarily mean all the materials are manufactured in the USA. I'm glad she mentioned that she tries to buy US manufactured materials as well! She has some great toys! So does Pat! I would also trust Canadian products (which are also made in America since they are part of the America's!) I don't feel that buying from local stores always insures local made or USA made products either. However, I think you do have a better chance in a local pet health food store.

I have to tell you. I bought some new towels the other day and it was so refreshing to see the label that they were made in Pakistan!
Still not made in the USA but at least not from China! But make no mistake... I love the Chinese people. Just not fond of the standard of quality set by and regulated by the government.
