Hello everyone,
I'm new here (obviously) and relatively new to the world of cats. I am a former cat disliker who took in a cat whose owner abandoned. This cat was so skinny and starving, I took it in. My plan was to find it a permanent, loving home. The poor thing was declawed and left outside to fend for itself. But, as cats seem to do, he crept his way into my heart and held it captive. Even if someone wanted him, I couldn't give him away. He was such a sweet and gentle cat so I started calling him Sweet Pea. It eventually evolved into Schweppie (it's really pronounced 'shwee-pee' but for simplicity's sake, people say 'shweh-pee') - just a weird derivation of Sweet Pea. Schweppie adopted me back in August 2008. In December, I got a job at an animal hospital. While training, I saw this kitten get neutered. He was so cute and had this wide-eyed, innocent look about him. He was set to go to the humane society after his surgery but I decided I had to adopt him. So, two days into my job, I adopted a male kitten. He was 7 months at the time. Right now, his name is Baby because he has a round face like a baby and his coat is soft and smooth and he's so innocent looking. However, that name may change because I call everyone baby so it gets confusing. I can carry Baby like a baby and rub his belly while he purrs like a motorboat. He nuzzles me and lays with me when I'm on the computer. I also have a dog, a Shih-tzu x Bichon named Kiri. Kiri is two years old and is a bundle of energy. Up until a couple of days ago, I had a budgie named Buddha but it seems that one or both of the cats decided he did not belong. Since getting Kiri, I have become obsessed with dogs and keeping her healthy so as to prevent any health problems for her sake. Now that I have a cat and kitten, I'm starting to obsess over their health too. I'm joining this forum in the hope of gaining valuable knowledge and to meet other cat lovers.

Welcome to TCS!

You are amongst other mildly OCD people when it comes to their animal's health!

We also love pics!

Hello & welcome to tcs. How do Shweepie & Baby get on. I've heard it can be tricky if you don't take introductions very slowly. Yeah, pics of everyone.

Hi Sweet Pea, and welcome!
Believe me, this is the best place to ask questions and get advice.

You sound like me. I didn't like cats to begin with...until a little kitten just decided I was his new mommy, and that was it.
It's funny how they worm their way into your heart like that.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about you and your fur-babies in the forums and, yes...we want PICS!!!
