It has been done...He is now in the back bedroom resting. I picked him up yesterday evening, and he was still kinda out of it. I told the girl at the desk when I dropped him off that he had never tried to bite me or anything, but that he was feral. She said that he must be a stray as ferals couldn't be handled. I just said whatever, I'm just telling you what he is like. That not to use force at first, to try being nice. Well, He didn't understand the trying to be nice idea. THe girl told them that he was a stray. Her mistake. He tried to bit someone. There was a note on his cage door. When I went to pick him up the let me in the back to put him back in the carrier. The first thing he did was put his head on my shoulder then rolled over to have his belly rubbed. He is my baby. He has now decided that he loves his large dog crate, and I don't think he wants to go back out. He loves to stay in his paper lined litter box. Doesn't even try to get out, just wants his food/water, and lots of love. He is sooooo spoiled. I'm going to keep him in for another couple of days as it is pretty cold out. Then I think he needs to go back out to the barn and enjoy the outside again.

Sounds like he trusts YOU, Mary. What about making him a house cat if he is that friendly, loving and attached to you.

I would love to let him stay indoors. I have 4 doxis that think cats are the worlds best chase toys. I may try to introduce them sometime today, but I'm not hopeful as to the sucess of the meeting. I will admit tho, he is bigger then the dogs
. I have a locking gate in the hallway, so they could meet with that between them. If it goes well, then I will keep him inside. What with him being blind now in one eye. If not, he can go back to his friends, the other ferals that I've taken in from my local TNR group. They all seem to get along, and like each other.

Doesn't mean he won't be afraid of them. You can try getting him someplace high up to escape to if the dogs are pestering him. Can you train the dogs to be better behaved with the cat? Maybe you need that lady from Animal Planet!!

Just got back hone and checked in on OC. I let him out of the crate and all he wanted to do was rub on me and get his belly rubbed. His poor little butt looks like it should still be sore, and, of course, no hair to keep him warn at nite, so I guess I'll keep him in another nite. My dogs are almost past the training age. One is 18 yrs, and down in the back. All she can do is drag herself around and bark alot. THe other is 15 is can't see very well, and lost most of her hearing. THe next one is about 11, and came to me with problems. ( don't most rescues). My last one is a handfull. She is the one that I'm training now, but she is very agressive at times. I've explained to her that I'm alpha, but she wants to be alpha over everything and everyone else. It is going to be a long road, but she is learning. I've only had her about 2 months now, and at least the fighting between the other dogs has pretty much stopped. She has learned that it is not acceptable, but she's not happy about it. She goes from calm to red in about 6 seconds, so we are working on what triggers her. so far doing better. That is why I'm concerned about OC. Also, I'm afraid that he will pull the stitches trying to get out of the way. He has both types of stitches, so I've got to be extra careful.
any thoughts?

Mary
