I bought a can of Evo Beef cat food yesterday. When I opened the can it looked ok but this evening when I took it out of the
to feed the cats, it had alot of white stuff in it almost looks like its not mixed well or something. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or is this not normal. Doesn't smell bad but the cats are turning their noses up at it. Expiration date 10/02/09

I'm not quite clear on the sequence of events. When did you first open the can? Did your cats eat it then? Did you put the uneaten part in the refrigerator? If so, did you warm it up to at least room temperature before giving it to the cats this evening?

I've never used Evo (can't find it to try it
) so don't know exactly what you're seeing. Is is separate pieces of white? White coating on the food? It's possible that the white is solidified fat/grease which could be mixed in once you warm it up. If you didn't refrigerate it, there could be something growing on it, e.g. mold. Could you take a picture of it, or have you already thrown it away?

Is it white speckles? EVO 95% meats all contain the bones, cartilage and tissues in the food (part of what makes it a complete meal) and I would assume that's what the white speckles are. One of my boys has been eating white speckled EVO Beef for several months now and he's doing great.

I've noticed the weird white stuff too, but my two have had the EVO as part of their diet for several months and no problems...

Thank you all. It must be the bone and tissue I'm seeing.
