One of my babies is sick...

One of my cats, Mikey, is sick. He's losing his hair, he's losing weight, and his gums are a little swollen. All his shots are up to date, and he had a check up about 9 months ago. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as seriousness of a condition? I can't afford to take him to the vet right this second, at least until my taxes come back. I'm worried about him, he is very special to me. I got him when my best friend passed away 5 years ago, he's named after him. The only thing I really found on the internet was feline leukemia.... and it scares me...

Has anyone ever had a cat with feline leukemia? Does it sound like he might just be having an allergy? Any feedback would be appreciated. He'll be going to the vet within the next few weeks. Thank you!!!!!

I would recommend contacting a vet and seeing if you can come up with some sort of payment plan until your taxes come in. Or, see if a family member or friend will lend you money for the time being.

Your little guy needs to see the vet ASAP. If he is showing signs of illness, he is probably sick, as cats are really good at hiding the first signs of being ill. A couple weeks from now (when you get your taxes back), things could be a lot worse...

No idea about leukemia, but I'm sure someone will come soon and tell you what they think about that!

that it all works out...

Care Credit perhaps. I wouldn't wait a few weeks--not with weight loss, and hair loss.

What is Care Credit?

Its a credit card.
You charge vet visits on it.

Is it specifically for medical stuff, or just a credit card?

I agree with the others. I would not wait. Too many things it could be besides feline leukemia.

Here is a link for the Care Credit http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/whycc.html

I hope he gets better soon.
