They're not a Nation, they aren't protected under the Geneva Convention, or any other legal document. They don't have a UN representative, last time I checked anyways. So no, they are not entitled to anything called out in documents that protect citizens.

I'm a big fan of Gitmo.

I've explained the Geneva Convention and terrorists (who are unlawful combatants) more than once on this site. They aren't entitled to the same provisions for treatment as legitimate POWs are but they are supposed to be treated humanely.

Personally, putting a bullet in their head and leaving the carcasses to rot in the desert works for me.

Better than what they would do if the situation were reversed.

The Geneva Convention is not about basic human rights, it's about prisoners of conventional wars. Part of the Geneva Convention is also that the combatants must wear identifiable uniforms. Our soldier and Marines do. The terrorists don't. They also use human shields. They behead captives and post it online and send it to their "news" stations. They certainly aren't abiding by any treatises or conventions, nor are they (technically speaking) covered by the Geneva Convention. We are actually treating them much better than we *have* to, and frankly like Cheney said, much better than they would be in their own countries' prisons.

Don't kid yourself Mike. We did much worse than waterboarding during the Cold War. The difference is that it didn't make the news when we killed their spies, or when they killed ours, or when either side tortured the spies of the other side to get information. Because they were spies.

Bush just didn't have the wherewithal to deny the torture, as had been done before. He admitted to it, and with the polarized atmosphere the other side would have spilled it just to spite him. Unlike the past where we knew our enemies and regardless of our differences here at home, we were united against them...this time they were united against Bush, and it didn't matter if it gave our enemies the upper hand.

Actually, I wasn't even really considering the actions of Bush, Cheney, or the government when I posted that. I was thinking of US citizens as a people. At one time such things were unthinkable to almost any American, and being kept in the dark on them satisfied that "comfort level". But now, the existence of such activities has been exposed for all to see, and roughly half of Americans not only approve of it, they applaud it. The American ideology seems to be dying in a "survival at all costs" attitude.
