Curious: Cost of Living where you are (grocery/gas)

Another cost of living question. Feel free to add on any other items I tried to stick with the items that pretty much everyone may buy.

How much are the following standard household items:

Bread: $1.47 for white $1.69 for whole wheat
Milk: $4.29 per 4L
Toilet Paper: $4.99 per 24 roll of 2ply (no name brand) or 0.99 per 4pk.

Gas: 0.795 per Litre
Bus Fare/Transit: $2.50 (neighbouring city, my town does not have transit)

Taxi: $6 anywhere in town

Bread: Same, depending on brand.
Milk: About $3.97 per gallon. We buy Braum's brand though, and it cost more than grocery store brands.
Toilet Paper: $5.99-6.99 for a 24 roll pack We tend to get the Angel Soft or Quilted Northern brands depending on what's on sale when.

Gas: $1.69-$1.79 per gallon for regular unleaded. Premium and super cost more, obviously. Regular is usually 10% corn ethanol, if not the gas station will charge and extra .10 cents per gal.

No bus or form of public transit. There is a taxi service for those that are handicapped or disabled. I can't remember what it costs or if it's free.

*Braum's is a small chain of fastfood/ice cream and grocery stores that owns it's own dairy farms and only operates/exists in a few southern midwest states. They have high quality dairy products, including ice cream, and some of their own brands of food that they sell in their stores.

Gas is $1.95-$2.20/ gallon or .51-.58/L
Milk, I have no idea. I'm guessing its $4 plus or minus 30 cents.
Bread, that's another one I don't know.

Toilet paper, I bought some at the grocery store last night for $9.50 for 12 quilted 2ply double rolls.
Bus fare is $1.50, the small in-town bus is something like $0.50

The only one of those I can answer is gas: running around $2/gal right now.

I buy fancy bakery bread(I'm a snob) and seldom buy milk cuz no one drinks it. So my bread costs about 4.50- 5 dollars for a pound. Can't palate the cheap stuff. Or if I go right to the source $6.50 for a 2-lb loaf.

Apples: about 99 to 1.29 lb.
Oranges 99c lb
Bananas 49-69 c lb unless I stop at Trader Joes and buy them for 19c lb!!!

Actually, I buy higher end stuff, so I end up spending over $100 week on groceries, including household stuff like TP and detergent. We hardly ever eat out. In fact - tonight I made baked salmon, salad, sweet potatoes and roasted cauliflower. Turkey burgers tomorrow. And I have a big pot of lentil soup in the fridge -also home made.

Bread $2.50-4.50, whole grain. I don't buy white bread. In fact, I usually make my own and only buy it when I've run out and it's on sale at the store.

Don't buy milk.

TP $8 for a 12-pack, on sale or with coupons.

Gas $1.93-$2.29 in my small town, $1.75-$1.89 close to my work 30 miles away.

No public transport.

How much are the following standard household items:

Bread: ~25czk (~$1.25) Wheat/Rye
Milk: ~15-19czk (~.75-$1.00) per Liter (that's all I've seen here)
Toilet Paper: Basic ~15-20czk (~.75-$1.00) 4pk

Gas: ~23czk/L (~$1.10-1.20/L)
Bus Fare/Transit: 1 week 100czk (~$5) Month 550czk (~$27.50)

Taxi: IDK...use Metro & trams...all I need here.


Beer: Store: Good stuff: ~15-20czk/per 1/2 L Crap: ~ 6-12czk per 1/2 L
A good beer in a bar is about 30czk (~$1.50) per 1/2 L
~~~~Beer (Pivo) is REAL cheap here! People drink it like water!

Bottled Water: ~8-20czk per 1 1/2 L

mmmm, I wanna come for dinner too

Eggs: lg doz. $1.99
Apples: same 0.99 - 1.29lb
Bananas: currently 0.69 (when in season can buy for 0.29-0.39)

Bread: Depending upon the brand, around $2.75 a loaf. I'm fussy about bread, and don't like the cheap stuff.

Milk: Around $4.00 a gallon - which wouldn't bother me too much b/c I don't drink a lot of milk and it would probably last me about a week, but my s/o drinks about a gallon a day.

Toilet Paper: Around $6.00 for a 12-pack, depending upon the brand.

Gas: Around $1.68 now I think.

Bus Fare/Transit/Taxi: Don't use public transportation.

Bread NZ$2 a loaf and US$1.04
Milk NZ$5 for 4L or US$2.51
Petrol it's NZ$1.63 a litre here
I'll also add it costs me NZ$9.50 or US$4.80 a DAY to get from school and back.

Bread: I have noticed the store brand white bread at 4 loafs for $5. That's one pound loafs. The large loafs of other brands run around $2.50. I rarely buy it.

Milk is $2.79 a gallon for regular store brand more than double that for organic. For some reason the big increase in milk prices didn't hit here.

Toilet paper: store brand 4 double rolls for $2.99 when on sale. It's on sale a lot and I always buy it when it is so I have never paid the regular price.

Gas is $1.84 today. The supermarket has a discount program on their gas pumps based on amount spent the month before. I usually get a 20 cent discount.

I don't know about bus or taxi fares.

Pretty close to that but we don't have a grocery store that sells cheaper stuff so we have to pay a little more. Gas went up today to .85 cents/L but it doesn't affect me because our car is diesel which is about .80 cents. We don't have buses here and I think the closest city that does is London (about 40 minutes away). Our taxi's are also $6 in town but I live in the country so it costs me $16 to get into town.

The cheapest generic (inedible) white loaf bread is $1.69 for a pound loaf. I buy a better brand for $2.79. I've seen upscale brands sell for up to $8 a loaf here.

TP: 24 pack of double rolls are $12.00 (Costco bulk)

Milk: don't buy it enough to know

Gas: $1.79 as of yesterday, regular unleaded

Bus: they don't run anywhere convenient for me so don't know.

Taxi: The last time I tried to take a taxi from the airport to home, they wanted $80 for a 40 mile trip, and that only got me 20 miles to my house - they wouldn't go any further. I declined and called a friend.

When I was in Victoria in November the prices were WAY cheaper then that! Which state do you live in?

Well the bread prices at the place I work at ranges from $3.50-$5.50 for a 28 oz loaf, but free for me!!
Milk-we buy skim and store brand at the cheapest grocery store is about $2.30/gallon (its Wisconsin after all!). A pint of half&half for coffee is 85 cents.

Butter -store brand ranges from $1.69-$1.99/pound

T.P.-I buy at Target when on sale and really don't know price

Gas-ysterday was $1.94/gallon though someone saw it for $1.89

The small community I live near has no public transport. Taxi's non-existant too.

Bread is about $1.50 for white, $1.70 for wheat.

Milk: I know it's $3.99/gal at CVS. But I dont buy milk, so I only know because of the sign advertising it there.

Toilet paper: About $5-6 for a 12 pack. We're going to be buying it in bulk at Sam's club when the in-laws take us this weekend (they're buying us stuff for our house as a late Xmas gift)

Gas is $1.78/gal this morning.
Dont know how much bus fare or taxis are, as I drive myself.
