Speck stood completely upright on his hind legs (like a person!) to get a better look at something on top of the chest of drawers. He was standing on the bed with nothing to support himself on. I was amazed. I've had lots of cats, but I don't recall any of them ever doing this.

Yep Sparky stands like that to get a better look. She also begs for food like a dog

do you mean on his toes? if so, none of mine do that. Java does occasionally do the 'meercat' pose, tho - usually in order to reach my hand.

Yup,mine does. It made me laugh so hard the first time he did it. He doesn't do it often though.

Oh yeah!!! Absolutely - both Lucky and Bugsy do that... Lucky loves doing that on the bed to get closer to the ceiling fan
.
Bugsy does that to look at counters to see if it is worth to jump on!

Lucy does this too, to catch dust that's flying around...a not so subtle comment on my housekeeping skills!

Both of mine do it, well my older one used to. That's how she earned the nickname "squirrel". Anytime she'd hear a noise in another room, she'd pop up like that trying to see what it was.

Yep!
Arwen did it earlier today whilst on my bed, she wanted a better look out of the window...she was watching the snow fall. She did support herself on the window ledge with one paw though

Well, my cat has done this once or twice, but he could only stay like that for like 5 seconds, then he fell over backwards!

He was up on his toes! He looked like a dancing bear, minus the skirt!
