The 17-year conference call?

This is interesting:

Apparently Rahm Emmanuel talks to Paul Begala, James Carville, and George Stephanopoulos every morning, starting at 6 a.m.

Imagine, if you will, had Andy Card or Josh Bolton been caught calling Rush Limbaugh, Bill Kristol, and Brit Hume every morning, discussing the day's events, how to spin them, etc. How big would the fuss be?

Now, Begala and Carville are just pundits, as are Kristol and Limbaugh. But Stephanopoulos is CNN's chief White House correspondent, as Brit Hume was for Fox at one time.

Of course, this is always the problem with Washington and New York newspeople. It is a small circle, and there are some very odd connections in the crowd at all times.

After all--Carville is married to Mary Matalin. And she at one time referred to him habitually as "Snake Head."

I cant imagine spending 17 seconds talking to James Carville, much less every day for 17 years.

I read that article last week, and have been pondering what it amounted to.

I think it's a bunch of boys that have no original ideas of their own, so they just gab away at one another until something comes up they agree on, and they run with it.

I mean, honestly. Look at Emmanuel' statement the other week, about "never letting a good crisis go to waste." If that's not the backbone of the current stimulus package, I don't know what is.

James Carville reminds me a lot of Gollum.

OMG you're right....

Seriously, I hope they're not letting him have any real input on policy. He's off the hook.

And hmm, does that affect George's status as a "non-partisan" journalist? I say that in sarcasm, because IMO he is highly partisan.

God, I miss Tim Russert.

Media Research Center (MRC) President L. Brent Bozell, III has written a letter to ABC News President David Westin calling on him to publicly address and resolve what appears to be a clear violation of journalistic ethics by ABC’s Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos. Last week a Politico story broke the news that Stephanopoulos has participated in daily phone strategy sessions with now White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel throughout his tenure at ABC.

Good on him.
